Sharp Euro 6.3 on ePray
For that price, the seller should fix the oil leak, not diagnose. |
That is one magnificent looking Benz. If I had the money it would be in my collection. The pictures are VERY professional looking and definately make the presentation.
|
Damn, that car is sharp....
I would love to add that to the stable... |
He knows how to put together an effective eBay ad. Good pics go a long way.
|
Gawd those are still beautiful cars aren't they. Makes me want to try to find a 4.5 real quick

Be interesting to see if he gets $40K.
|
Hooooooollllly Mooooooolllllllly!
That is the most beautiful 108 / 109 chassis Mercedes I have ever seen. Not a big fan of the velour interior, but it is magnificent. |
I too don't care for the velour...non sunroof car too.
Am I seeing things or is the wood too shiny? It looks like hi-gloss boat varnish in the pic's. I'm just nit-picking to make myself feel better about never having a car that clean in my life, and no prospects for ever getting one. |

Diametrical Benz...Will probably cream over this car!....
The car is a cream puff..but I think it is ugly as H..............:wacky: |
Ugly? Wow.
I don't think many (if any?) Euro's had the sunroof option. The velour is trick! How often do you see it? Leather/MB-Tex gets old. :) |
It looks to be clean but by no means the best 6.3 example out there. Dan Smith in Portland has one that is unreal. Mark Passerreli from Arizona restored one a few years ago and it looked BRAND NEW. He sold it for 50k, but I heard that deal fell through, not sure what happened to the car. Then there is that 125k joke that pops up every so often and gets discussed here....
|
Look at the turn signal stalk in picture 19. It looks funny. Is this some sort of photographic effect? It makes the photos look good but I am wondering how it is done.
|
This guy definitely knows how to photograph a car.
|
The old 6.3 is a favorite, but with leather. I can't believe Benz made a top of the line car with velour. I mean there's rosewood veneer, plush carpets, a kickass engine, a sophisticated suspension, a long wheel base, and--velour?
|
Those old 6.3 sedans are so stately and elegant, and quick!
First one of them I have seen with the Euro velour seats, and it's been really restored beautifully. Definately at or near show car status, and not really for daily commuting, though it would serve that purpose well. It's one of the best ones around, and it has been beautifully presented with text and photos in the advertisement. If it has been in California since 1970, why are the California blue plates from Los Angeles, 1978 issue? Perhaps car had personalized plates removed when it changed hands that year? But even the blue plates are in excellent condition. If the seller can't get any interest at his price over here, he should consider that this car would definately sell for a pretty pfennig to an enthusiast in Germany. They aredifficult to find in such good shape that over there. |
I like the velour.
Thats a very clean car, if I were 6.3 shopping that would be the kind of car I'd be looking at. Look how clean that thing is underneath! Thats what counts a good solid rust free body. If the bones are good its a solid keeper that will hold its value. |

That car is really close, about 8 miles away from here. Lots of old folks with BIG houses. Anyone notice in picture 24 how it still has 0.3 bar of oil pressure at key position 2? |
That could be a 6mpg car. But if you can afford the price and use as 2nd or 3rd car only Sundays, the mileage would not matter much :)

Hmmmm..... I wonder if dad will let me borrow 45,000.... That way I can buy the car and still pay the tax..

Its very nice. But so perfect.
I'd be making sure no one ate in it and they took their shoes off before they got in. I'm not sure how much fun that would be for me. I like to drive my cars. One thing he did do was take out the stock radio and replaced it with the same Alpine head that I used to have in my daily driver. I understand wanting to have good sound - but there are ways to do that without making obvious changes. And the Alpine is so wrong and out of place in his perfectly finished dash. Ann |
Like that velour a lot. A lot quieter and grippier than hard creaky old leather too.

I have seen it in Pullman's as well. |

Yeah I noticed that to. On a car of that caliber I expect the stock head unit to be in place, but it doesn't have to be hooked up. Thats what those hidden sound systems they make are for. For $40k is a lot of money, for that I'd expect damn near perfection. If he was asking less well ok then there is room to fix all that. |
Bidding is now at $28,100.00, and reserve appears to have been met.

Oh god that's nice. I hope if we do the convertible project it turns out that nice.
|
Velour was trick stuff in the 60's boys!
I am coveting those rims. Do they come in a 15"? Call me nuts, but I;d like to throw some on my 95. |
Bee-you-tee-ful car! I love the Euro bumpers. US spec bumpers look more out of place on them than any other Benz.
|
Looks like the winner of the auction at $28,100 was a dead beat bidder.
The car resurfaced on ebay today, with a Buy it Now of $40,000. |
It is a beautiful car, no doubt about that.
I think that I like the velour upholstery. And that engine is just gorgeous looking (I hate the look of modern engines, all plastic!) But an aftermarket radio? It is a nice Alpine h/u. It looks like model 9885 (same model I have in my 300CE) But somehow it detracts something from an otherwise beautiful old timer! |

As for the velour I actualy prefer it, I hate leather, although MB tex is fine. |
$40k, I dunno. I hope he fixed the oil leak. That could be a big time repair (in terms of labor).
