Democrat Presidential Debate

If a third party ever had a chance now is the time. If it does not happen now..............it ain't gonna happen. My favorite quote is in bold.

At the conclusion of the two-hour debate, the candidates were asked what their top priority would be for their first 100 days in office:
Edwards: "travel the world" and "re-establish America's moral authority."
—Clinton: bring home U.S. troops from Iraq.
—Obama: bring home U.S. troops and push for national health care.
—New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson: upgrade U.S. schools and push a $40,000-a-year minimum wage for teachers.
—Delaware Sen. Joe Biden: end the war in Iraq and defuse tensions with Iran and North Korea.
—Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich: help "reshape the world for peace" and end all nuclear weapons.
—Former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel: Remind Congressional leaders they can end the war in Iraq now.
—Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd: "Restore constitutional rights in this country."

Edwards' comment makes more sense than Gravel's:

Why would the Commander in Chief need to remind Congress of something like that?

Edwards' priority is exactly correct, but is he the person for the job? I think he's going to have a hard time explaining his vote in favor of the 2002 resolution. Not much moral authority behind that vote.

I thought some of your favorite people voted for the resolution and it was ok now because they had retracted their decision?

I don't know who my favorite people are anymore. If you could take away his vote for the 2002 resolution on Iraq, then Edwards would be far and away the best candidate, but you can't take that vote away. When the vote occurred I was surprised that some of my "favorite people" voted for it. At the time I figured they knew something that I didn't, but as time goes on, I doubt the sincerity of that vote. Same for Kerry and Clinton. They say they were mislead. I ain't buying it. If their vote was based on a good faith reliance on evidence that Saddam threatened us, then I think we would have seen some of that evidence by now.

Since we completely agree on this, I can't understand your position that the dems are the lesser of two evils and the repubs are just wrong. Politics is about the fight itself and the whims of current sentiment. I just don't get these guys that say "throw them all out---they are all wrong and dishonest, ect....". Take a public sample of any career field and tell me that the results of a poll of corruption and dishonesty are any lower in just about any other field than in national level politics.

If Bush said the exact same thing the left would go ballistic. He can't use the M word and go unpunished.

He wouldn't. Both Gravel and Richardson ignored the question completely.

And rightly so. Bush has given people around the world absolutely no reason to trust us on anything.

That's what happens when a President acts in a consistently immoral manner.

Does that mean Hillary can't use the word if she is elected because she got nailed in Whitewater? Maybe we should ask Jennifer Flowers or Monica Lewinsky? Flowers, btw, has opened a sex club in New Orleans recently and is making a push to re-legalize prostitution there.
