Ed Brown: Police, SWAT Team Incident Was "Test" To See What Response Would Be
New Waco averted as authorities leave after surrounding propertyPaul Joseph Watson

Thursday, June 7, 2007

[LEFT][LEFT][LEFT][LEFT][LEFT][LEFT]A new Waco was narrowly averted as law enforcement, APC's and SWAT team personnel descended on the home of Ed Brown, the tax protester who has threatened to use force to defend himself against authorities.
Ed Brown himself states that the police are now leaving and that media are being allowed to approach the house.
According to his blog, "apparently this was a test by the "authorities" to see what kind of response would come from the community......testing to see what might happen if they move in......."
This was also confirmed verbally by the Browns during an appearance on the RBN radio network.
We received early unconfirmed reports that the Brown house was on fire - although according to reports, "Federal authorities indicated Thursday they will not raid the home of two convicted tax evaders but would serve a warrant."
Fox News reports, "The U.S. Marshal's Service says a supporter of the fugitives was detained near the Browns' home this morning and that they served a federal warrant to seize Elaine Brown's dental office in Lebanon."
In addition, it is being reported that authorities have closed the airspace above Brown's home and that an AP photographer was ordered to leave after flying over the property.
Fred Smart, a close friend of the Brown's confirmed that Brown's phone has been cut and that at around 8:30PM last night a silent surveillance drone with a bright beaming light encircled the Brown's property as if conducting reconnaissance.
News reporters have confirmed that police have surrounded the property and that they were kept away from the property. Neighbors have been evacuted from their homes.
Officer Jack McLamb attempted to call the Sheriff's office in the area but was told that he was out of town.
Authorities have been telling reporters that they would not violently engage the Brown family for the past few months but this now appears to have been a drill for a potential future scenario in that mold.
"Dozens of heavily armed state police and federal agents have assembled near the rural Grafton County home of tax protesters Ed and Elaine Brown."
"About 50 state troopers, some armed with high-powered rifles, along with a vehicle from the explosives unit gathered this morning in Plainfield, a small town where Edward and Elaine Brown have holed up in their home since being convicted of tax evasion and sentenced to lengthy federal prison terms," reports the Plainfield Union Leader.

We are encouraging people in the Plainfield area to get down to the area immediately to see what is happening.
More on this story as it develops.....

I was wondering, if anybody has noticed any reporting of this ongoing incident on the national media?

It's been documented as a current event on Wiki:

Authorities Converge On Ed and Elaine Brown's Home

Plainfield, New Hampshire - June 7, 2007
State and federal authorities have converged on the home of a New Hampshire couple involved in a tax standoff.
People are being kept several miles away from the Center of Town Road in Plainfield, where Ed and Elaine Brown live. Neighbors, including some who have been evacuated, reported police SWAT teams, a helicopter and at least one armored vehicle converged on a field near the home Thursday morning.
Authorities have not said if they were moving in to arrest the fugitives
The Browns have been barricaded inside their home for several months, after being convicted of tax evasion. They did not even attend their sentencing hearing, in which they were sentenced to five years in prison. The couple has not paid their taxes in more than a decade and owe nearly a quarter of a million dollars in back taxes.
Elaine Brown once had her own dentist office in Lebanon.
Ed Brown says he is armed and has promised a Waco like ending, saying he will not be taken alive.

What should a person expect, if one is sentenced to prison and is holed up in a residence?

They claim to have stockpiled food, but that can't last forever. Either they'll starve to death for their cause, or they will have to come out. It really doesn't look like the feds are in any real hurry.

I, as someone who pays his taxes, don't have much sympathy for them. Sure, it's easy to say that taxes aren't owed, but the courts say otherwise.

For one, I am amazed the national media doesn't seem to consider it news worthy. Certainly not as much as Paris 'Snatch' Hilton.

I also pay my taxes, it's not worth the money, to put up with such gargabe.

Point in view is though, the IRS's interpretation of their Code and the subsequent enforcement seems to be in contradiction to an American Citizen's constitutional rights, particularly when it comes to income tax.

While there may seem to be a contradiction, it is the courts that set the interpretation of the constitution. Since the courts support the income tax, it is constitutional by definition.

I like it when Americans are willing to die for liberty. I also like it when people obey the laws and I like it when people enforce the laws.

Each of these likes is in constant conflict with each other in my mind. I hope they are in conflict in your mind, too.

Ruby Ridge's Weaver offers support for N.H. tax-evading couple

By PHILIP ELLIOTT
AP State
Jun, 18, 2007

Randy Weaver, the symbol of everything the government hopes to avoid with convicted tax evaders Ed and Elaine Brown, offered advice to the fugitives and warnings to federal agents at the Browns' fortified home on Monday.

Weaver's wife and son and a deputy U.S. marshal were killed during the infamous Ruby Ridge shootout with federal agents in Idaho in 1992. He visited the Browns' hilltop home to raise the specter of the botched federal raid and lend his celebrity to the tax evaders' cause.
"We said, 'This is it, we're not going to take it any more' ... This is serious stuff. Bring it on," Weaver said during a news conference on the Browns' front porch. "I ain't afraid of dying no more. I'm curious about the afterlife. And I'm an atheist."
During the sometimes hostile news conference that had Weaver and Ed Brown shouting insults at reporters, the speakers and their supporters repeated their claims that income taxes are voluntary, and any tax on labor amounts to slavery.
"The bottom line is: Show us the law, we will pay what you ask," said Ed Brown, who had a gun tucked in his waistband. "They can't do it, folks."
The home, which Brown calls a castle, has 8-inch-thick concrete walls, a turret that offers a 360-degree view of the property and a driveway that is sometimes barricaded with SUVs. The 110-acre compound is self-sufficient and is capable of running entirely through solar, wind and geothermal energies.
Officials cut power and telephone service last week in an effort to ratchet up pressure on the couple convicted of scheming to avoid federal income taxes by hiding $1.9 million of income between 1996 and 2003. The Browns said they hadn't noticed the changes, they can survive on generators and they have 103 wooded acres to keep them warm this winter.
Ed Brown has threatened "guerrilla warfare" and retaliation against those who played a role in his conviction. He skipped his trial.
"Do not, under any circumstances, make any attempt on this land. We will not accept any tomfoolery by any criminal element, be it federal, state or local," Ed Brown said. "We either walk out of here free or we die."
"If they come in, we're dead. That's it," Elaine Brown said later. "We will not be arrested. We will not volunteer to go into their prison for a non-crime. We have committed no crime."
The Browns' claim that the federal income tax is not legitimate has drawn support from so-called "patriot" and militia groups. Supporters from as far away as Texas also have brought weapons and supplies.
The Browns were joined Monday by several of their supporters, waving "Don't Tread on Me" flags and "Don't Murder the Browns for Money" signs.
It's this support that prompted a panic in Plainfield two weeks ago, when heavily armed police surrounded the Browns' home while they seized commercial property the couple owned in a neighboring town. SWAT teams, military and explosives vehicles marshaled in the tiny town and sparked rumors of a raid. Neighbors were rousted from their homes and planes flying overhead were ordered away.
U.S. marshals said it was only for surveillance.
Brown has warned against any action.
"If they decide to make that move against me, go ahead," Brown said in past interviews. "Watch. It ain't going to be as easy as they think it's going to be. Believe me."
But marshals insist there are no plans to raid the home.
U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier released a statement Monday saying he remained hopeful the situation can be settled without violence.
"The U.S. Marshals Service is committed to resolving this peacefully," the statement read. "Edward and Elaine Brown can end this today by doing the right thing, which is to call us and make arrangements for their surrender."
