Air conditioning cuts out.
This is actually for a BMW but I can’t find a BMW forum with the technical expertise of this group.
If I turn the fan switch over the second of four positions the A/C cuts out. If I turn it off for a while I can turn it back on, but not at the higher settings. Any help would be appreciated.

I had a very similar problem with my 1990 520i - I could run the fan at position 4, but not at 1, 2, or 3. I either had full blast heat/ac or nothing. The contacts for the switch had slightly bent, and were no longer electrically connecting. I never actually got the fix done (take apart the control assembly and re-bend the contacts) before I had to sell the vehicle so I could leave Germany (The Army dictated the timing of this, and it was a EuroSpec BMW that I was not willing to spend the $ on to convert).
Hope this helps. CTM

I think the fan works on the higher settings but only the A/C cuts out. I even think the fan will run for a short time on the higher setting as well. I can live with it but want to get to the bottom of it.
