German Car Show Pics

Kuan and I hit a German car show today in St. Paul. Part of their "Sommerfest" celebration. MBCA was in full force, with a few dozen Mercs. Also in attendance were a number of P-cars, along with a smattering of BMWs and even a Borgward (forgot to take a pic)

M100 enthusiast, Karl Middlehauve was in attendance with his "Benzomino", complete with a fuelie M100 mill.

Wow, talk about Deutschland uber Alles, I wish I could have seen those.

St Paul must be something to see, it looks great. The most beautiful girl I ever saw in my life, was from there (White Bear Lake) sigh....

Kuan took some pics as well...

It was a perfect day. There were some cool old V-dubs and a smattering of Audis. Tomorrow they're having the Concours d'Elegance. I think it's just Mercs, Rollers and Porsche.

Their are a few sponsered by the dealers, but from the pictures I have seen the turn out's are not that great.

I have seen the registration records, Westport alone has like 200 Ferrari's, and 3k Mercedes.

There ought to be some good shows.

OT: In two weekends, we are having the second largest car show in the country. Pre '63 cars only called, "Back to the 50's". Should be interesting...

Why does MPLS have a statue of Richard Nixon doing his famous arms-raised, peace sign thingie?

B

PS My favorite was the dark green Benz. is that a factory color? If so, what is it it called? reminds me of the color a w124 that somebody who used to post regularly had in his sig line. If I remember correctly somebody smacked his car, totaling it. His name was something Hat. Mark Hat? Tom Hat? Whatever. I sure liked the color of his car, too. Maybe I'll do what somebody suggested elsewhere and get a paint roller. Great DIY project.

that was my sarcastic suggestion to saltydog/buckwheat after he asked me a question in which he made a derogatory remark concerning my age and physical condition.

although i have always been a little envious of the free feeling one must have to paint a car with a brush or roller.

i saw a 64 studie the other day at lunch that looked pretty good at a distance but not in a factory looking color. on closer examination it was so rough that it might as well have been put on with a roller.

great pics .. I wish I had a 60's Mercedes so I could let it sit with the classic american cars at Old Town on saturday night(weekly car shows).. I have to settle for parking my 85 with the tuners and 72-85 "classics"

"Miracle on Ice"
That's a statue of Herb Brooks. Coach of the US Olympic hockey team in 1980. The big cold war game, US vs the Commies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miracle_on_Ice

Brooks is a hockey legend and local hero (St. Paul, MN, ditto car show), died in a car accident about 4 yrs ago.

The green Merc is a 280se low grill. At least I think that was the model designation, no pics of the rear. Not sure if that's a factory color, but it looked to be unrestored. One of my favorite old Mercs.
