"Jack" Pitches a 1 Hitter!
For those of you who remember my thread from yesterday (which I've just deleted), I wanted to add the results of yesterday's game.
First round playoff game; we're the lower seeded team, playing against a team that's won our season series 2-1. Single elimination. Jack Pitches a 1 Hitter! 12 strike-outs, 1 walk. We win 3-1. Jack gets the game ball (1st one we've awarded all year) and gets to lead the team cheer. We'll play again Saturday (against a HEAVILY favored team), and Jack will start, but whatever the result, he now has an experience that he will remember the rest of his life! I've got tears in my eyes writing this. PS I removed yesterday's thread because it was inappropriate of me to include details of a 3rd person's life (Jack's). Thank you all for your kind comments. |

Those tears are you sure they're not from your bad hip?
Congrats! A one hitter is awesome!

Thanks. 12 K's in a 6 inning game is pretty good too (and he had to come out after 5-2/3 for pitch count).

That's awesome! It's nice to hear good news instead of the usual. (Not from you, just in general).

Spring Season Over - Unfortunately
I hate stories without endings so...
Playing the #1 seed, we got blown out yesterday 9-0, ending our improbable playoff run at 1 win. Jack pitched the 1st 2, was victimized by shoddy fielding, and let up 4 runs in 2 innings. Today we start our summer travel season. Jack will get a lot of playing time this summer - 3 games a week for 6 weeks. Going into the season he's our #1 pitcher. (He's actually not that good - if he were on our town's #1 summer travel team, he wouldn't get to pitch.) On the plus side, the official scorer ("me") decided that the one (1) hit against us in the first game was really an error, so Jack got credited with a no-hitter for the 1st game. If there appears to be any interest, I'll keep posting. |
