Ask him if he's seen the clip in post #8. It features a KC-10. Good stuff.

He had an instructor that demonstrated it on a 135, I didn't comment on the clip because I don't like to comment much on what my brothers are up to.

You work on refuelers don't you? I think the KC-10 has the best service record in the entire Airforce, is that correct?

Yes, KC-135E maintenance. We're (finally) getting R models this year. The KC-10 is a neat plane, but limited sometimes by its size. You can squeeze a couple of 135's in the ramp space that a KC-10 would use, but, then, you can squeeze several 135's worth of fuel load onto a single KC-10. I know some bases just can't accommodate a KC-10. When we left Guam last year, the next tour was handled by KC-10's, and I watched them unload one while on alert on the ramp. I couldn't believe the amount of equipment and people who got off that thing. It was like a bottomless pit of stuff and folks streaming off.

Tankers are just cool in general. I likes 'em!

I was only there for 3 weeks, but it was fun. My parents were there during Vietnam -- dad flew in & out of country from Guam. He has hundreds of stories about his time there; I think they really enjoyed living there. If that TDY continues for us, I'd go back again. I didn't get a chance to explore the wrecked B-29 on the far side of the base as much as I'd have liked to, and the snorkeling is lots of fun.

Ask your brother to enjoy a sunset or two for me. Who knows -- he and I may have crossed paths at the BX or Shoppette once or twice!

This tanker was also at the show. They gave a nice fly-by with an F-16 next to it. Ran out of time to go over and look at it when it was on the ground. On display were also a Tornado bomber, and an AH-64 Apache: you don't want to mess with those things....

During the Iraq war their army surrendered to Apaches on several occassions.

First time in over 100 years that's happened.

They also surrendered to unmanned drones. Guess they figured out that once the drones spotted them, the big Naval artillery was sure to follow. There is (drone) video of them waving a white flag... probably on YouTube if you look!
