Am I the only one watching Pirate Master?

I told myself I wasn't going to get sucked into it. Looked too goofy. Then I saw that they were actually sailing that ship, having been given a crash course in it. I can only imagine real experts are on hand, out of camera range. That ship's worth way too much to do otherwise.

This is playing out a little bit like a grown up version of Lord of the Flies, but not quite as severe. I get a kick out of these things because you can see people lay their misconceptions about themselves and the way things work out in the open.

Sort of like an elaborate game of new chess, with stakes right out in the open and a much more complex board.

What is Pirate Master? Oh I can feel a flaming coming...

Okay, I don't know either. I guess I'm old school. What the hell is Pirate Master?

Maybe it's that show on CBS ...? ... which I've never seen, but 'Google' says so ...

cmac2012 06-23-2007 02:22 AM

Yeah, it's a reality show on CBS, produced by the same guy who does Survivor, what, Mark Burnett, is that his name?

I dunno, I feel like a pop-media sotted dupe sometimes but it is a trip to watch these people reveal their foibles for all to see. Some of them are way cool, others are sorta deluded, some are outright obnoxious.

They're on a huge sailing ship that's probably about 4 times more happenin' than anything most any pirate ever got his hands on. Then again, I guess those guys stole ships too so they might have had some good uns.

I think it, the Picton Castle, is a wee bit more grand than the Black Pearl:

The 'Black Pearl' is like the 'Phoenix from the Ashes', brought back to live from the bottom of the ocean ... the ultimate pirate jammer. :P
