man in wheelchair stuck on front of semi takes 50 mph ride

and lives to tell about it.

i read this in this morning's paper.

it happened in paw paw michigan on the red arrow highway, an old three lane highway that preceded the interstates.

a man in a wheelchair somehow got the handles stuck in the grill of a semi tractor and the driver did not know it. he rode over four miles that way and was finally pulled over by police. the driver was like..."why did you stop me?"

i can picture it now..."sir, you have a wheelchair stuck in your grill".

anyway they said the guy in the wheel chair was not upset about it but he did spill his soft drink.

YIKES!

i just noticed this article was posted yesterday, but it just appeared today in my paper so it was news to me.

I have been pondering this incident at odd times and have come up with two thoughts:

first, I suspect some sicko pranksters deliberately stuck the (apparently) mentally slow man on the front of the truck.

second, I wonder if the truck driver still has a job.

I was up to my mom's place in Kalamazoo over the weekend and drove a bit on the old Red Arrow highway where the incident took place.

A very cool road to drive too...kindof like route 66.

Not much to say really. Maybe we can petition congress to pass a law prohibiting this type of thing?

The other thread has a longer account of it, apparently he wheeled himself in front of the truck, perhaps thinking he could make it across but he was too close and the trucker didn't see him and handles got lodged in the grill.

Sounds a bit fantastic, I'll admit.

Tom, what I read and saw on the news, this man is very lucky to be alive. His Guardian Angel, earned his Wings, on this one!

Ciao...Paolo
