Accusation: St. Paul Man Threatened To Shoot Coach

(AP) St. Paul A St. Paul man is in jail, accused of threatening to shoot his son's Little League coach.

A police spokesman says it started Friday, when the man's son struck out during a baseball game on St. Paul's East Side. The man chastised his 12-year-old son and was asked to leave.

Police weren't called to the scene then, but on Sunday the coach told police that the boy's father had threatened to shoot him.

The 46-year-old father was booked into jail on suspicion of assault and making terroristic threats. He's not been charged.

The man told the St. Paul Pioneer Press the incident has been blown "way out of proportion." He denied threatening the coach.

"His (the coach's) kids are out there, and they're playing, and they're not as good as my kid."

Sound like justifiable homicide to me.

Ever notice how the smart coaches keep the parents on the other side of the dugout from the bat rack?

What kind of an example is he setting for his child? This reminds me of the dad who i think killed a coach during a hockey match a while back. Just plain stupid behavior.

Thumbs up

"Tall blond women, pristine lakes, fast skiiers, great guitarists, canoe country, kayak heaven" and now THIS?

In other news, Johnny came home from college today. He sat down at the kitchen table and his mother served him a glass of milk.....

Sounds like a slow day to me. You must live in paradise, Kuan. You have no idea how good it must be up there.....

Hah yeah sorry guys. You know the kid was at the neighbor's house messing around in the wading pool all morning. I had so much time on to kill today.

We Got Trouble Right Here in River City

I sent the link to the above story to my league commissioner. This is the response I got back back this AM:

Al,
.... what happened with "you know who" was much worse and he is lucky the complainants sent the evidence to me and not the police.

I hate to scare you but be very careful.

"You know who" is one of the parents on my current summer travel team. (Previously unknown to me.)

Sure glad I'm getting paid the big bucks to coach.

You can't make this stuff up.

Man what you're doing with the kids is awesome. I can't believe that some people just don't get the whole picture.

Some of us in this country just seem to be losing our minds. It's sad to see the levels of physical violence, verbal abuse, and litigiousness that Americans have reached.

My hat's off to anybody that still has the guts to volunteer to work with kids and coach sports teams for them, be scout masters, etc.

Dee8go and Kuan - Thank you both.

As crazy as it sounds, I like the hard cases (kids) because I feel if I do my job right, I can have an impact. There's not a whole lot in real life you can say that about.

I had been warned about one of my new kids. I just spend a little extra time with him, explain what I'm doing and why, and so far I really like him.

(I'm willing to forget the time earlier this year (when he was on another team) when he cursed me out, because I was umping and called him out at 2nd. He and I discussed it this week.)

The hard cases (parents) are another story....
