Funny stereotypical reaction
Has anyone else heard this? A friend just sent it to me this morning and I thought it was great!

Folklore. I never believed any of it, and if Letterman does, he's even more detached than I already think he is.
It used to be that a book represented truth - we want to believe what we read. With the internet and the information society as it is, it's always best to now not believe anything you read until proven otherwise. We'd all be better off with this POV rather than the "I read it, so it must be true" mentality. EVIDENCE: http://www.snopes.com/racial/mistaken/hitfloor.asp

It's still funny, though.

Yeah, it's getting hard to take anything at face value anymore. We're becoming a nation of skeptics and cynics.

That one is quite easy to take at face value. Considering that it is a complete fabrication, the face value is exactly zero.
