Splitting headache

Bullet causes US man's headache

A bullet has been removed from behind the right ear of a US man who went to hospital complaining of a headache. Michael Moylan, 45, from the state of Florida, is quoted as saying he had woken up with a headache so severe he thought it was caused by an aneurysm.

His wife, April, took him to hospital but left when the bullet was found. She was arrested later over the shooting, but said it was an accident.

Mr Moylan remains in hospital in a stable condition.

A gun was discovered during a search of his house, along with blood-stained rags.

According to the Palm Beach Post newspaper's website, Mr Moylan and his wife gave conflicting accounts to police throughout the day.

Mrs Moylan told police she had returned to the house from the hospital to check if there were any signs that her husband had been shot from outside the building.

Mr Moylan had told police no weapons were held at the house, the paper says.

He reportedly told police he had woken up with a headache and asked his wife if she had elbowed him in the head while he slept.

Me either, but that's from the story. That thing looks larger than .30 cal. Certainly larger than anything I loaded into a .30/06. Maybe she tapped the bullet into his ear with a mallet.

While the story is valid the bullet shown cannot be the one,.375-.450 Boattail,if not larger, look at the land and groove marks,BAR?
More likely a .22 or .25 auto did the job.

Remember both these hooples are convicted felons and behind the ear with a .22 is the mob's preferred method of "whacking out"someone.

Dumb Dora likely placed too many rags over the muzzle of the peashooter for silence's sake and dramatically retarded the velocity and impact,I mean the guy was Irish but still, his head wasn't THAT thick!

THAT is the bullet?

From the verbage I had assumed that I just misunderstood and the picture was a joke perpetrated by one of our merry pranksters.

It looks to be at least 50 caliber. As noted above, if that were fired from an actual gun it should have pretty much exploded his cranium.

A mallet indeed!

Man she must have been pissed. If she had some bullets to choose from that one is probably the only one big and long enough to hold and drive with said mallet! It even has grippers for a good fingerhold!

I think the BBC is just slapping any old scary-gun-related stock photo up with the article.

When I looked at the BBC article yesterday, it had the image that Bot posted, and the caption was something generic about how getting shot in the head is usually injurious to an individual.

If I look here today, it looks (to me, at a glance) to be the same main article text, but with this image:

The current caption reads, "The injured man said he awoke with a headache".

Great journalism, eh? Can't have a story without a picture just because we don't have a relevant picture.
