Cool *** Fake IDs ***

Here's a "fun" poll - and it's probably intended more for the "over 30" group (but if you're willing - go for it... ) because of the DHS regs. and such (I don't want to see anyone getting into any kind of real trouble...)...but...

What type of PERSONAL experience have you had with Fake IDs?

Used one? Had one? Needed one but couldn't afford/find one? You had all the right "stuff" way before your friends and didn't need one?

Fill out the poll and "spill your guts!"

Remember, it's what we did to get through the summertime!!

I don't see where I can get back in and modify the poll to add your response...it's a valid point though...If a "mod" wants to PM me to show me the procedure, I'll see if I can get it changed...

What!!!??? Just walk down the main street in the Latin area of any large city, they practically approach YOU asking if you need one.

Should be no problem at all in Atlanta. Heck, in Los Angeles, they sell them openly in the parking lots of the mini-malls everywhere. Right along with
with the drug dealers who are standing around.

But what's the charge for using it? I assume that it's a misdemeanor, but I'd want to know for sure, and want to know the fine.

I think it has been upped to a felony. There is a differance between using someone else's ID and tampering with your own as well, i'm not exactly sure what the punishments are for each anymore though.

When I was 20 and a half I did a slight modification to the month of my drivers license but not the year. I used it once iirc, at a little liquor store in Muncie and was stopped a block or so later by a policeman who looked at it really hard and let me go.

I always felt he saw the modification and just said, what the heck, and let me go.

I think I then waited a few months til I was actually 21 before buying it again.

Not being a heavy drinker, it was not a big consideration.

Probably a class one misdemeanor in most states, but no matter what it is, if you are convicted of it, or plead guilty to it, it's a LIFETIME criminal conviction on your jacket.

Never had one, never needed one. Two reasons:

1. While I was in high school, I had a classmate/buddy who was 17, but looked 37. Obtaining beer was never a challenge.

2. When I was 18, the drinking age in my state was 21, but just 18 in adjacent states. This resulted in college caravans to NJ, where we would go to cheap bars, get tanked, then race back along the winding highway in the Delaware Water Gap in overloaded, bicycle-tired American sedans at 137 MPH. To quote one of my passengers at the conclusion of such a run: "We're Alive!!!" Well, don't look at me, that wasn't my fault.

I got the ID for a friend's brother, I still have the address memorized, and I turned 21 in 1987. I used to know the SSN and everything, but that has finally faded from my memory.

No it was 21. At that time in Ohio it was 18 for 3.2 beer and kids would drive to greenville just over the line from muncie and drink tubs full of it. It is still 21 here in Indiana.

I was in on the 3.2 thing at 18 also, when I lived in Kansas. I moved from there to Missouri, and while it was 21 for all beer, there were 3.2 licenses, so you did see 3.2 beer.

I was back in Kansas late last year, and while it was 21 for everything, grocery stores only had 3.2 beer, so they still have the tiered licenses. Missouri lost those twenty years ago.

I live in Illinois now, and it's 21 for everything, but there are no hours for the sale of alcohol. It can be sold any time, unlike Missouri. I think Kansas specifies the hours also, but I'm not sure.

As for the OP, I drank a couple of beers in bars before I was of age. Seriously, two or three. Back then, the worst that would ever happen would be a dressing down by the bartender or owner, getting kicked out and told not to return. It didn't happen to me.

Never had one, I looked 30 when I was 15. I was always the designated beer/booze buyer.
