How rare are w124 convertables?

I saw one the other day, which is the first time. I've seen pics on the web, but I would imagine they would have been popular when they were new. So that leads me to ask, just how rare are they?

I will bet someone will come up with exact numbers, but they seem to be readily available without too much problem.

I bet you Benz_LGB knows. Or it may be posted somewhere in the 300CE owners roll call.
IIRC, MB US imports of the 124 coupe (300CE) beginning in 1988 was a little over 2,500 and gradually went down from there each year.
I don't know if the cabriolet is included in that number or not. Hmmm.. was the cabriolet badged as a 300CE?

There are a few around here, and every time I get a pang of jealousy, I drop all 4 windows, open the sunroof, and tell myself I don't have a rag top to worry about!

I don't have the numbers off-hand, but I know W124 convertibles are counted separately from the coupes.

They were sold for three years only 1993, 1994 and 1995.

They were sold in the USA as the 320CE and E320

In Europe you could get one as a 220CE, and with a manual, too.

They are very covetable, with quite a few around in South Florida and the Los Angeles area, a great alternative to the SL.

Yep,
I was down on Marco Island in April, and so help me, I saw two within 10 minutes of each other the first morning I was there.

I think there were around 2500 a year imported and sold in the US. They are rare cars, and they look FANTASTIC!

I have a picture of a black one parked next to the SL600, and they look GORGEOUS!

In Frank Barrett's book, "Illustrated Buyer's Guide to Mercedes Benz", there are only two cars produced in the 1990's that have been given 4 stars (out of 5) for collectibility: the '93-'95 W124 Cabriolets and the '92-'94 W124 500E / E500.

And to give you even more perspective, there are only about 10-12 cars in the history of Mercedes that he awards 4 stars to, so this is very rarified territory, as far as he is concerned.

There is a shop in Sarasota that has those for sale more often than not. I think its Distinctive Motor or Motorcars or something like that. Usually has a few cars on ebay for sale. Has been in business for quite some time, and appears to know 107's pretty well. (I snooped around their store one day)

I love my '93 300CE. Less than 800 imported to the US in 1993.
