Victim of theft

Stupid bastards. I forgot to lock my car in my gf's upscale neighborhood. My stereo was a Walmart brand that was probably valued @ ~$40. Why they didn't take the $300 speakers that were in unmounted boxes on my rear deck, or the satelite radio mounted right next to the stereo, is beyond me (not complaining). I don't really care about the stereo, but the bastards bend my shifter removing it. Arrrgghhh. I work my ass off so that some crackhead or something can get his dose.

Sorry buddy. That is one of life's seriously frustrating things.

We all have been there too if that is any comfort.

That is one reason I never get out of my vehicles without locking them on the way out.

That and because some wino might come along and sleep and urinate in them if left unlocked!

years ago a buddy of mine lived in the city,he had an old olds cutlass diesel wagon.he had a cheesy steroeo in it with an under dash equilizer.well he was going to work one day and looks down on the tunnel and there was a screw laying there,he didn't think much of it,then a couple days later he see's another one and then thinks.man this diesel is shaking my screws loose.next morning he goes out and his equilizer is gone.he actually thought it was pretty funny that they took a few days to get it.well about 6 months later he was hauling junk to the dump this was on a saturday afternoon and he goes out and puts his dead black and white tv in the car and goes back in the house for more stuff, when he comes out his tv was gone.probably the same ones that took his eq.

You should consider yourself lucky...

Story 1)
I had a brother and sister in law who parked in NYC overnight. I told them to put the car, a new Jetta, in a garage but they did not listen to me. My brother in law took o ut the radio but left his old ratty basketball sneakers in the car. The next morning the window was broken, the sneakers were gone and about $3800 damage was done to the interior. The crackheads ripped up the seats, broke the speedometer and all the gauges, etc. Guess they were mad about the radio being out of the car!

Story 2)
I worked at Columbia University back in the late '80s I had to drive my '67 GTO convertible in one day and had to park on the street. I removed the coil wire as a precaution and left it unlocked. When the local crackheads broke in, they did not have to cut up the top. They did a nice clean job removing the Jensen AM/FM radio in the car and did not mess anything up. Best of all the darn thing was already broken! I had learned about p---ing off the crackheads from story number 1

I think we should install these on trip wires behind the radio's:

That will solve the problem, no one will want to steal them, and anyone dumb enough will do the world a favor and remove themselves from it.

I despise thieves. We work our butts of for what we have and they walk up and take it.

It would be worth them doing it just to catch them in the act.

A buddy of mine had his work truck stolen from home depot. He got the truck back a few days later, of course the tools were gone, and what's worse? They even ate his tacos he had on the dash that his wife made him!!!

When the VW was actively on the road (and on the stereo-show circuit), it was a thief magnet! I had an expensive head unit stolen when it was a daily driver. I wasn't very street-smart back then. Thieves pried the window vent lock to gain access. I got vent locks after that.

Years later, same car. This time, parked in my apartment garage bay shared by several vehicles. Stupid manager never changed locks when tenants left, so someone had a free-for-all at our expense. Guy with race car in the next bay had parts off his engine removed.

Thieves tried to gain access in my car the same way as before, but couldn't because of the locks...so they shattered the vent glass and got in that way. Either the alarm spooked them or they heard someone coming to the garage.

Cost me $30 to replace the glass, but I got a great set of Craftsman screwdrivers that they left behind!

I remember a movie where a thief tried to steal a Porsche and the deterrent system trapped him in the car. The owner tormented the guy, including decapitating one of his fingers with bolt cutters...I felt no remorse for the thief...and I suspect no one else that viewed the movie did either!

It just boggles me that they would steal the lowest quality thing in the car, when there we several far more expensive things that would have required much less effort to get to. But, at least they didn't cut anything, break/crack anything ( besides the gear shifter, but it still works), and my hood star is intact.

Not to make light of robbery, because I had my house broken into and lots of things stolen with no insurance recovery or police success.
Sorry for your loss.
You need exta security. See the 2nd clip.
