That thing is f'n crazy! I don't know if it's the same guy, but there was one for sale on eBay last year. I believe it was in upstate NY (possible given the nye.ca logo on the front). That guy had built a couple of different versions, making improvements along the way.

I would love to play with that thing. The b!tch would be the exhaust dB limits here in CT pretty much preclude it. But, man...

Wow, Lake Zoar, Here we come!! That this is friggin crazy..Wonder what his top speed is with that thing..

It kinda reminded me of that "Mythbusters" episode with the oxygen tank, on the back of the boat to propel it. They should have put the tank, below the water line and they would have had better results with it..

Very cool boat! There used to be a jet boat in Milford harbor, only stayed for a season. It was a big cat and faster then hell. Sounded like a 747 was taking off in the channel when they got on it.

Was it owned by someone locally Hatti..? Wonder what ever became of it.. I'd like to see one in person.

Too bad there are so many channel hazards in the CT. River. Otherwise, it would be an ideal place to take a boat like that. The Reality of it is though that you really can't move along very well in it. My bro and I go in there with his little 23 foot Bayliner boat and just 50mph and under, it's hard to follow the narrow channel. Some areas, it's 60 feet, and then all of a sudden it's 3 feet, and then back up to 13 feet or so. I mean fast changes, and they change daily also. Lotta boating hazards in that river and a lot of boating accidents. Today an area could be four feet deep, tomorrow, the exact same spot is 15... Lotta current and silt changes etc in the CT.River.

Yeah it was owned by someone local. He races offshore unlimted cats quite successfully. If you watch the races on the speed channel you would know the team. I havn't seen the boat in a few years, I beleive he keeps it in FL.

You could never run such a boat on a river, it would be crazy. Rivers are full of logs, people, turns, etc. You couldn't go 80mph on a river let alone the 150+ these things do.

The CT river is brutal, I know someone who ripped the bottom out of there Bertram 50 at 30 knots, nailed an underwater jetta damn near sank it. The old Berts really are tanks though.

That's a common misconception about reaction engines, which is what that was.

They don't work by "pushing" against the air. They work by reaction of the gas rushing out the back. Putting the outlet below the waterline slows the gas release, and reduces the reaction.

I saw that episode, and they did try putting the outlet below the waterline. As expected, the thing hardly moved. Well, it moved even less than with the outlets above the water.

Yeah, My bro ripped his propeller to shreds one day not too long ago, in the middle of the marked channel, at like 30 miles per hour. His boat is not fast, It will see 55, on a good day with current, and tail wind, and it's 225 hp outboard. 55, Is pretty fast on the water anyways. It sure is a whole lot faster on the water, than on land that's for sure. Hell, it only requires 20-25 mph to water-ski. He had to get towed in that time and after replacing the prop. he found out his driveshaft had also been bent and the seal had busted, resulting in a complete tranny rebuild, after the next trip out. Now it's all new though. Turned out, he hit a huge log that had floated to the surface in the middle of the channel in 20 feet of water. The way looked clear, on "fish finder" depth gauge. Must have sucked to have been there. I was still on the road though, and missed the whole event...

That boat is awesome just for the noise it makes!

It seems to be trimmed improperly (weight?) and the hull doesn't track well.

Yes, I was kinda thinking something along those lines...Not really enough boat, for that much engine.. He would have probably been better off putting that thing into one of those big huge "Cigarette" boats..

I don't think even one ofthose could have been the slightest bit underpowered as big as they are, when your dealing with as much hp as this..

To much power. The torque wants to flip that boat over so you are going to be fighting it. You can't put that much power into a boat that size and expect much.

There's no such thing as TOO much power. Just ludicrous applications.

That "big fire" feature is pretty sweet. I need one of those for the diesel.

I suppose the whole thing was only some sort fo experiment anyways. If it were a final product, he'd never be able to "Float it" (No punn intended)..

I do some crazy stuff, but that boat is of very poor design.

I've seen other jet powered drag boats executed much better than this one.
Cool rooster though.
