P-51 lovers -- Gathering of Mustangs, Sept '07?

Anyone going? I'd love to check it out if I can schedule the time to do so.

Up until about a year ago, I worked with a man who co-owned a B-25 bomber. He also owns a T-6 trainer and a smaller single engine aircraft.

I'll bet he shows up.

They expect over 100? That's amazing. I wonder how many of them will be airworthy. Can you imagine the beautiful deafening thrum of dozens of Mustangs flying overhead? My house gets buzzed a few times a year by an Avro Lancaster bomber (one of only two airworthy in the world) and four RR Merlins make a hell of a sound. If you could get squadron or wing strength numbers of Mustangs in the air together, it would just be breathtaking.

I love P-51's. There was an unfortunate accident with one recently at takeoff at the Camarillo airport.

Please post pictures if you go to the event!

Awesome tribute to the best WWII American fighter and those who flew them! They even took on the ME262 at the end of the war.

That would be great to see and hear them in the air again.

Stega has to be the baddest P51 out there. He's got over a million bucks in the wings alone.
You should hear the puppy idle. Sends shivers in my bones.

Not sure at this time, if DJ and I will make it or not.

Trying like hell to, though.
Any chance at a chat and hand shake with Dr. Roscoe Brown, we don't want to miss.

49% of one I won't mention the name of until all the paperwork is done.
(Her cousin of the same name is on the list though. We’ll be a –II)

Also - part interest in a pretty little girl from the UK we call Susy.
(So who owns it? Tony or Paul ? I’m not tell’n. )

Funny the way they have things listed there. I’d say half of the listed “owners” are not actually owners, but the pilots showing the aircraft. And many of the actual owners probably won’t be flying in. Pretty typical for a P51 group though. Too many owner changes, corporate leases, partial ownerships, pilot changes, etc. to keep up with. I know the registry can’t keep up.

Wow I'd love to go but I really can't make the time in September. Between school, work, and boat shows that month is booked!

WVO -- if you wind up going, would you mind meeting up with me, however briefly (assuming I can make it)? My brother is Director of the Grissom Air Museum, and he and I grew up madly in love with the P-51. We'd love to meet as many folks as we can at the show. And if you know anyone with a two-seater who owes you a favor ... oh, the thought of a RIDE in one of those things. That's one of my life goals.

On the "Today" show this morning, there was a nice short pieces about the P-51 being the "ultimate" muscle car aircraft for millionaires. It should be on MSNBC's website.
