This is pretty cool and it makes sense. For instance, the heart has its own local network to produce a heartbeat. It interfaces with the central nervous system also. But it is not correct to think of axons like wires. Tissues other than neurons communicate with each other also.

Yes. It was started by your employer to verify that you are using this sight to brush up on your brain cell photography skills... rather than 'just to goof off'.
