Bosch Appliances

Hmmm.... Time to upgrade the 15 years old kitchen appliances. Range, microwave and dishwasher. Did the fridge last year.

I've been leaning towards the Bosch convection range and matching microwave, and Kitchen-aid dishwasher(I like the Bosch DW but an extra $500, over budget). All stainless models.

I've looked at alot of different brands and need some opinions/experiences between GE and Bosch or whatever. My Budget is about 3k for all, which puts me in the mid-range model level from what I've seen.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

Maytag stinks....My step mother has a stove by them and some electronic gizmo crapped out the day before Christmas dinner (she was entertaining about 20 people for dinner) she called and it couldn't be repaired until after the holidays. A message kept flashin up on the stove "Warning you must have this serviced by an authorized dealer." So, long story short several neighbors let her use their ovens for the dinner as they were invited and knew they wouldn't be fed...

God, yes! I had a maytag dishwasher, stove, and washer & dryer. All of it was crap. All were purchased at different times, so it wasn't just a matter of them going through "a bad period" or something like that. They must be manufacturing them in China or something.

We have a Bosch convection oven and a dishwasher from Bosch. The dishwasher is nearly 9 years old and has been trouble-free except for a kinked drain hose and is still very quiet. Provided that they haven't "screwed it up" with unreliable electronics like certain Mercedes . . . it should be a great addition to your kitchen. The oven has also been trouble-free.

Once upon a time I worked for Whirlpool in one of their refrigerator plants. I always thought their level of quality was fairly good.

Bosch is nice, quiet, and most importantly been junk lately.

Our Bosch was the most troublesome dishwasher we ever owned. It broke down several times (all electronics) and the last time it finally crapped out, the Sears warranty kicked in and gave us a 500 dollar credit to a new one. Got a kitchenaid, and no problems for a year...

AVOID MAYTAG LIKE THE PLAGUE! They have bad electronics that like to randomly crap out.

If I remember correctly, Kitchen Aid is also a Whirlpool product, albeit one of their more expensive brands. Maybe the quality is better.

Buy cheap but get the features that you want. In a few years do it all over again. Sell them or give them to charity and deduct them. If you buy top-end you will probably be reluctant to let them go. New mid-range is better than last decade's top of the line.

We just got an LG fridge and its pretty nice, all stainless. Cost a few bucks though. GE makes some nice stuff.

I'd go with GE or Bosch. Bosch washer and dryers seem to be popular in high end homes around here.

IMHO the best stoves are the market are Vikings, but they cost a fortune.

TV in the door! Crazy west coast! You probably have the same one that we do, except we got the base. Not even an outside ice maker. Being a proper yankee my dad got them for every penny he could and got it for a damn good price!
