Pimped out

I spotted this near my house and thought I'd share. I've seen it a couple of times, so if its not a daily driver its at least a weekend cruiser.

It started out as a 1977-1979 Lincoln Town Car, with the handling characteristics of a Town House and went downhill from there.

What is curious about this one, is that it is displaying a clever reverse chic in its customising mien, being self effacing by sporting a downscale Mercury Grand Marquis grille.

Trying to be too clever by half. We are not fooled.

If it were a 60's Cadillac, flat black and riding on steelies I'd drive it. Other than that...

I'd be interested to know if it has low rider bladders. And why is it, Cadillacs are the preferred car to low ride vs. a Continental?

That's because Continental owners have more class . . .

I just like the looks of the 60's (and earlier) Caddies. I'm not into the lowrider look per se ("flashy" paint jobs and lotsa bling). But I'm a ratrod fan which can be lowered but are generally low buck cars paying homage to the pre-60's hot rod days. Given my brood, there are few choices big enough to haul that many around

I did own a '79 Lincoln Continental in my early college days. It was my grandfather's that sat in a barn for a few years after he was done with it. 460 cu. in., a cow herd's worth of leather, 56K miles. It really was great car, I just couldn't afford to put fuel in it as a college student (I should say I wasn't willing to change my social life to fit my budget). I wish I had it now. It really was a beautiful highway cruiser.
