Man killed and consumed by pet spiders

I posted this in the botfly thread, but it was posted pretty deep and probably worthy of more exposure.

Yup! War on Spiders!

It actually reminds me of an incident.

One of the many times I was moving, it was back in Germany, I brought all the boxes from the car and stacked them in the new livingroom.

After awile I came back to the boxes and sure enough there was this spider sitting on the top of one bow with my slide projector in it.

Geez, I froze from afar, that spider was about the size of the back of my hand including legs and everything.

I figured I had a problem there, it was a Black Widow type spider, no idea how it got into the box.
It just continued to sit on the box and I sure enough didn't want it to escape somewhere within the new place.

I kept watching it, thinking what to do. After quite a while, I just approached the animal on the box, not even having a plan, but sure enough, it instinctively crawled back into the box.

I thought, great! Grabbed the box and brought it out in the back yard, where I eventually turned it over and the spider took off ....

Cool *** They melt in your mouth and ... ***

...and as the spiders feasted on their owner's corpse, one spider turned to his dinner partner on his left and said, "See, I told you they were soft on the outside and crunchy on the inside!"

And the other said, "You mean, SCRUNCHY?"

Spiders are some seriously fascinating creatures.

That musta been a nasty scene for the clean up crew though... I'd have been pretty creeped out.

I can't stand spiders. I'd rather charge an MG42 than enter a room like that.

It was actually an amazing creature, I think it was a 'Kreuz Spinne' kind a type.
