My daughter,my pit bull and my bird-dog...

I could not resist sharing this. Call me a sentimental fool but I just let them be and slept in one of the guest bedrooms.

No silly –
You have them confused with the Mini-Weenie dogs.

Don’t feel bad….Easy mistake.

You let your daughter lay in the same bed with those two? What are you crazy?! Don't you know that those dogs are...

... Just dogs. Thanks for not falling victim to the media hype and discriminating based on breed. Makes about as much sense as judging people by their skin color.

I will say that if your two are at all like my two, by the time all the stretching, shoving, rolling, and the like are through, she'll be lucky to have any bed left at all. She'll probably have to come join you.

Also, if they're at all like mine, she won't have to worry about just about anything. Monsters, cats, tresspassers, birds, bugs, blimps, garbage trucks, low flying aircraft, poolsweeps, skunks (though hopefully we're learning to let dad handle those... from a distance), crayfish, thunder, wind, stuffed animals (unless it's a monkey, those are immune to attack...), and plenty more... All are protected against. Except trains. Those things are just too big. He lets them pass.

Does your bird dog actually hunt? I've never hunted with dogs, but it seems like it could be cool.

I had a high school chum who lived out in the boonies. ONe day I went out to see him and pulled up near the house and this huge great dane came out and woor woofed with his nose right at my eye level while I sat in the car. I just rolled the window down a bit and peeked out. My buddie came out and called the big dog off and said..."don't worry about him he just likes to bark"...so I went inside.

Just inside there was a little table with a doily thing hanging down and this wiener dog poked his head out and kinfof looked up at me with the doiley hangind over his head kindof like Mother Mary. I started to lean over and scratch behind his ears and my buddy's mom says "Don't do that....Otto will bite!"

You gotta watch out for those wiener dogs!

We've got 3 of them weiner dogs and I doubt they'd ever bite anyone under normal circumstances.

They sure are loudmouths though.

I have had many dogs over the years and I must claim neither I nor anyone has ever been so much as nipped by my pit bull pups.

They show remarkable affection and restraint with humans and are,in my limited experience one of the most intelligent and intuitive breeds if shown love and gentle discipline, yet they can play a little rough with other dogs, albeit not to the point of violence.

The large bird-dog is indeed a great hunter for upland birds, particularly large honkers.
The dog is a "custom designed"cross between a Weimaraner ***** and a Lab male and thus far has demonstrated the best abilities of both,in addition his large size makes him ideal for the heaviest geese so the experiment was a success.

He was,is quite nippy and extremely clumsy but he's not even 7 months, should be about 85-95lbs when fully grown and he responds well to training.
Of course all of my dogs have always slept in our beds, even when I had 4 pointers, now they were crazy....

I agree.
Some years back I dated a gal with a male Pit Bull. The thing would play with a stick and nearly bite through it. If you held up one end of the stick and rested the other on a tree branch he would jump up, bite on and hang by his jaws until you dropped it.

But as soon as you put the stick down and went after him with your hands, that’s when everything changed. He knew you weren’t a stick. You could slap his face around and he loved it. The really cool thing was to make fists and box with him. He loved to take your entire fist in his mouth and lightly gnaw at it. He never once broke the skin. Never hurt anyone. Just lots and lots of slobber.

Now her Chow mix on the otherhand.....

Great pic. Thanks for sharing.

Speaking of training.
It’s been "morning refresher course” time.

(yep – she would rather have that pigeon)

We apodpted a female pit 4 yrs ago and male American Staff Terrier (distant cousin to a pit, but recognized by the AKC) last winter and they both came with "issues".

Mary doesn't like little kids and we know for a fact she came from a family wih toddlers. So I'm guessing they teased the **** out of her and crack head Mom did nothing about it. She's not aggressive around them, but is very edgy.

Blue is pretty good all around, but can get overly stimulated when he sees other dogs from a distance. Once he greets them, it's ok. He gets along great with Mary and my parent's lab. Many pits have a strong game drive, love squirreling, chasing chipmunks, rabbits and unfortunately, small dogs.
