Business phone systems programing?
We just moved the delivery service to a new space and the Norstar Meridian 4 handset 5 line phone system with 4 plastic boxs and a bundle of wires came along.
I made a wire color code chart and reconnected the system in our new diggs... but two of the assigned handset lines are dead. I found another slot or two in the junction box (that comes out of the switching box) That will activate the handsets but they only get two lines (the others say restricted by admin or something to that effect) At the two slots that were formerly phone lines out, and are now caput, I tested for continuity between the bridges and it's the line in from the Norstar Meridian box that is not delivering a signal (as best as I can determine) Anybody who has programed one of these things or a like... can you just assign features to any of the out lines that qualify or does it require new software? And or is there a good way to test the two formerly good lines out handsets that already have permissions assigned? TIA

You should have one controller phone that will help you set up the station ID's.
For ease why not get a Analog VOIP Adapter and jack those baby's into your hi-speed internet. The included software helps you program the station Id's. Your phone bill will shrink instantly. I did this with our old analog system with great success.

It's been awhile since we had or Norstar system programmed, but there are "admin" codes that provide access to certain features. It should be in the system admin manual.

I think one of the dead line outs is the default programing line... labled 21 by the system and marked as such on the cable interface box. I found some instructions here: http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:Qu2PpugPhW0J:www.jandjcommunications.com/Quick_Reference_Guides/norstar/Norstar_616_w_DR5_DS_Programming.pdf+NORSTAR+COMPACT+DR5+PROGRAMMING&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us
I wonder if i try to reassign line features by entering the codes listed through a handset will it defualt the system and I won"t be able to get the phones I have up now back.

Well that worked!
Thanks for the moral support and the kind of phraseology that let me know I was not going to detonate the phone system. Of course the maunal is lost and the internet instructions are bare bones. Thats actualy pretty easy once you know what you are doing. Now I need to go get some Ebay back ups for some of the coffee spilled on handsets I'm running here.
