What do you guys think of the dollar situation?

Now that the CAD $ and US $ are pretty much at par whats your outtake on this?

For me it means a road trip and a lot of part shopping

No need to use math in order to figure out USD for Canadian eBay cars.

I don't do much direct commerce with Canada, but the $1.40 Euro has put a damper on some of my German eBay Mercedes parts searches.

I say let the $ fall

The cheaper the dollar gets the better it is for our exports and it makes that Chinese crap more expensive now that they unlinked the Yuan to the Dollar.

We just have to watch out for inflation, but with the Fed lowering interest rates, I think we will be OK for a while

Better for our export but worse for us German car buyers. Don't complain when your next Mercedes is made in Brazil or South Africa

I was looking at a 38' Carver aft a few weeks ago. The price was too high, by about 20k, but I was thinking of putting an offer on it. Some Canadian paid cash for it at asking price. I guess the Canadians are buying boats up like crazy in the great lakes states because of the exchange rate. So, I guess it's a good thing for those with boats for sale in the states.

Then they're likely to cost brazilians of dollars.

Carver? They are like the biggest POS made. We carved the fuel tanks out of a 35 last year. The stringers looked like 2X4's. If you just want to use it as a floating condo they are great, but total POS.

Last time this happened afik was in '74 when I lived in Detroit. It was a recession (Nixon or Ford) in the us. I remember going over to Windsor to watch the fireworks on the fourth. I stepped into a bar and gave him a 20 for a sixpack and got back about $5. Some cheap date.

How come when we have a recession here they don't in Canada?

I saw him speak at Kent State about 1971 or 2. He was very inspiring. He had good ideas, but his dymaxion three wheel ford was a handling disaster.

This means there will be more Canadian tourists in Florida.
The result will be happy restaurant owners, disgruntled wait staff, and a bit more road rage.
