If you don't want to pay for repairs buy a new one. New MB's come with a really good warranty.

I did a lot of work to my old Camry which was 9 years old when I got it. Nothing lasts forever.

New MBs come with a big financial hit when they're resold, usually after the owner gives up because of reliabilty issues. A busted car is a PITA, warranty or not.
I have never paid for car repairs. I owned a repair business for 25 years and Benz was one of the few makes we worked on. Component failure, which is different from wear and tear, was never the problem it currently is.

Talking They're not all lemons!

I have a 1998 E430 that I bought new from one of the local dealers. It's been a great car with very few problems.

I was thinking to get one of those lexus' that look exactly like a benz, and then put a hood star on it and some emblems here and there.
that would make a nice reliable mercedes I'd say. for less!

After owning and driving numerous Mercedes I have switched over to a Honda Accord, and I couldn't be happier. My most recent money pit was a 91 300D. I loved the way it drove, but it tried its best to put me into a financial hole. When I owned that car my life revolved around maintaining it and fixing it. It's a completely different situation with my Honda. Now my car revolves around my life and enables me.

In 2 1/2 years with the 91 300D I replaced an A/C compressor, a turbocharger, an exhaust manifold gasket which involved drilling corroded studs out of the head, numerous suspension bits and pieces, a heater fan, 2 brake vacuum pumps, a window regulator, a radiator, a water pump, and I can't even remember what else. It seems like I spent all of my free time working on that damn car or buying parts for it.

Driving my Accord may be boring, but at least my butthole doesn't pucker just thinking about how much each trip is going to cost me.

Even Fiat made "wednesday cars"

The issue isn't that EVERY Mercedes is a piece-o-crap. It's the percentages. Audi's are about as unreliable a car made today, IMHO. But they keep selling. Means there are lot's of them out there that keep running. But the precentages.........

Ah, heck. Been there, done that. Have fun
