A friend of mine owns one of these. Kinda neat! Took some pics with my phone:

Car has a little dippy ehaust pipe tucked under the rear valance. Round tubular chassis however made for a great place to stuff big tailpipes for looks!

I assume it's gas? If they offered a diesel (or electric ) version here I'd seriously consider it since so much of my daily driving is just running around suburban and urban roads. I could get away with a Gem or an electric golf cart if it were street legal.

I'm with you wanting a diesel version. It would probably get 100 MPG or more in the diesel flavor. I'd definitely use it for around town, that's 90% of my driving.

Too bad Ca air resource board has a hard on against diesel.

CT (MA, RI, VT & ME) seems to have adopted CA standards

Very cute!

I did not think they were for sale her until 2008. A cute ragtop like that with great gas mileage would be fun to own!

I am just wondering about the demographic they are going to sell this to, girls under 24 is my bet, How safe are they going to be in such a tiny car?
I can imagine what a Ford Excursion would do to it...

In fact I bet the Ford would not even slow down!

Yep, CA seems to drive the senseless envirocrazy agenda throughout the country. Stand by - were pushing newer, even dumber, global warming initiatives...

You can't even buy a new diesel Volkswagon here despite the sane enviro argument that clearly shows diesel engines are superior to gas and electric.

This one is the gasoline-powered version...gets 60 mpg.

Brought it in from Mexico...he has a year to get it federalized. unfortunately, it requires about $6K of upgrades to get it to spec. Ironically, not emissions, it passes the smog test with flying colors!

Smarts are junk. They are filled with cheap materials, shifts slow and clunky, gets less MPG than a vehicle that weight should, is slower than a 300D and costs about $10,000 more than its worth.

Not to mention that no straight man would ever honestly want to be seen driving it.

I had a customer come in early summer that had a diesel one with Quebec plates. He lives in one of the Hartford suburbs but his brother is a salesman for a Benz dealer in Montreal so it's registered at his brother's Canadian address. As of 6 months ago he said there wasn't any way for him to register it here, but that might have changed by now. IIRC he said 75ish mpg for the diesel.

Its a girls car! Like a VW Cab.

I think I could put it in my S class's trunk!

Its a cool little go cart thing though, it would probably be good to drive around a large golf course.
