Herculiner as undercoating?
I found a few rust spots in the floor of my Jetta and want to get it patched up pronto. I'll treat the rust that's there with POR-15, but I'm wondering about VW's choice of undercoatings. I can see a few spots where the rubberized stuff is a bit bubbled and brown, where there is obviously rust underneath. I plan to wire-brush the coating off and treat what I can, and re-coat it.
I have heard NOT to use spray/brush-on bed liner products line Rhino Liner or Herculiner as undercoating, but I also know a fellow who used it during a restoration and swears by it. I'd like to use it on my rocker panels as well (after cleaning them up as best I can, of course). The factory stuff is bubbling it spots there as well. Any thoughts? Thanks folks!
