Good day,,, bad day.
It's been a weird 3-day weekend for me.
On Saturday I was introduced to the homemade potato gun/cannon for the first time. I was so impressed with the videos I saw online, that I hit Home Depot and made two potato guns on Sunday,,, and me and my two boys (8 & 10) went out to someplace remote and fired them on Monday morning. Something that much fun absolutely must be illegal. For me, learning about the existence of the potato cannon ,,, then building it,, then firing it in such a short space of time was something of an epiphany. What a blast. So,,, in a buoyant mood, I took my C124 into my indy mechanic at lunchtime to get a leaky hydraulic cylinder pulled so I could get it rebuilt. I also asked him to fix the vacuum lock on the front seats and recharge the A/C. Upon picking up the car,,, he said those damn words that so many of us fear: "Your condenser is leaking." He says $2200,,, I got the distinct impression he didn't want to do it. As Zaphod would say,,, BELGIUM! . . . .

I do want to say that potato guns are, pardon the pun, a blast! I haven't introduced my boys to one yet, but a couple buddies and I had fun launching the spuds into a variety of targets.

Potato guns are tons of fun!
When we were little we made one and were shooting it in my friends back yard. Well it seems to things have some range...they were landing on his neighbors roof. You should have seen the neighbor run outside screaming. Evap core sucks, how long does it take to leak out? My friend nursed his for like 2 years. If it takes like a year to leak out screw it. Get some of those R134 cans from Autozone and ghetto charge it.

It takes 4 months to leak out. If I can continue to get that from a charge,, I could live with it,,,, but I know it'll just get worse.

I love potato cannons. I make vynal cement slugs for mine and wrap them in electrical tape to fit. It's amazing what you can do to the side of a car from 30 feet. Oh, be careful! It's got a little kick to it when firing cement. Aqua Net is a great propellant but try MAPP gas, it's the best!

wrap the barrel in duct tape... it keeps shrapnel from entering your body

While there are no direct laws concerning many types of guns, there are BATFE rulings which have the force of law.
They mention potato guns specifically in the FAQ on their website, www.atf.gov. I don't recall if there are propellant restrictions (like black powder, for example) but in general they are not controlled. |

Give me some credit guys! Aqua Net hairspray is more than powerful enough.
