Online Dating...Anyone try it/have stories?
Has anyone here tried an online dating service like match.com or eharmony? I looked into match.com but it seems it's a bunch of creepy guys going after a few attractive girls. eharmony seems interesting, though expensive.
Well, I'm 21 and feel like I'm at a point in my life where a relationship would be good for me. I don't have really have a problem talking to girls, I just don't really know where to go to find them (sad, I know...I'm in college). Anyways, when I do meet women they're generally not the type that I'd care to date in any serious manner. Anyways, what do you guys think of the online dating thing? I never would have seriously thought about in fact I generally associated with older people who were divorced, etc. Then I looked into it further and realized there are quite a few younger people on them. Thanks David

Try the grocery store. Everybody has to eat and I've seen a lot of hot-looking chickas in there.

If even the Police do it....
It seems pretty accepted for people of all ages these days, but I have not ever done it, personally.
Here are some single ladies who are cops talking about their experiences with it.. http://forums.officer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48701

So when you meet the women off of eCrimeny or whatev they're going to be 'generally not the type that I'd care to date in any serious manner.' too?Are you saying that ANY women you meet don't somehow measure up to what you're into? Sounds kinda snobby. When I went to college it was chock full of sweet honeys. If I'd been straight I woulda hooked up with a lot of them and yes there were plenty of keepers at my college. I had lotsa chances at some A+ babes, but i had to let em down easy, tell em i like the burrito not the tacos. Anyways you must be going to a all-mens college if there are not any nice girls there.

Ironically I just transferred from an all-men's college and think I'll have to transfer back to that college next semester. If I stay here I won't be able to graduate on time.
The girls here tend to be very religious...very religious. That's not to say there aren't some really cool ones but it's all about timing. I just see the internet as one more possible way of meeting women. Thanks David

A lot of girls here are of the zealous protestant type...meaning they would never even drink regardless of their age. I just figured that online is but one more place to meet women, which I don't think is a bad thing when you're 21.
Thanks David

Is their not drinking a positive or a negative for you? I'm not sure I understand what you're looking for. A little drinking is always fine by me. Nothing like a few drinks to make panties magically fall to the floor!

I know two couples that met on dating websites, both have been married for double digits in years so far. Go figure. |

And I'm totally serious!!! Most churches have singles groups, and you may find that some of those "church ladies" are less uptight than the ones you seem to encounter in the area. The woman I married was one of those "religious zealots". I was warned away from her from those that knew me as the "anti-matter" of her personality! Well it's been over 15 years since we've got married, and personality-wise we've sort of met halfway...she loosened up, and I toned down...actually, I attend church far more frequently than she does!

You need to go party at a school with better hunting grounds. Most of the girls at my school I don't want to date, but they are hot...so you just nod your head, pretend you care, listen, say yeah a few times....and before you know it. Wash and repeat. You want to find the dumb hot ones, its like shooting fish in a barrel around here.
Actualy I know a couple who met online, I beleive it was eharmony. They have been happily married for two years now.

I'm about go BACK to an all boys' college. About the type of girl I'm looking for...It's not so much that there aren't even girls where I'm at that I wouldn't mind dating. I just wouldn't mind one more way to meet girls.
I don't know about joining a church to be in their single's group. Plus, this is a really small town so there's not a wide selection. Besides, I'm Catholic and most people around here are Protestant, not that I care about my partner's religion so much. I actually think it would be cool to date a Jewish girl, but that's not why I'm doing the online thing. Thanks David

Never tried the dating services.
The best advice I have is to stop trying. I never met anyone I thought much of when I was actively seeking to date. All the interesting ones I met when I wasn't looking. Eventually I met my wife while I was renting a house. She was part-timing at the real estate agency and we managed to hit it off. Incidentally, that was 1 year into my 2 year plan to not seriously date, work for a couple of years, get some cash and move somewhere else. That was 7 years ago and I'm still here but with kids now... Can't complain.
