Pushing Daisies Mercedes

If anyone here has watched the new show, Pushing Daisies, the car the lead characters drive around in looks to be brown pre W123 4 door.
I think I even heard a diesel rattle.
Can anyone identify for sure? I have to remove it from Tivo's deleted items and look again because there were definitely some interior shots.

Thumbs up "Pushing Daisies"

Yes, I've been watching -- definitely the quirkiest show in years, and it looks like nothing else on TV. The MB is black, with a cognac interior.

I'm pretty sure, though, that the car is a W108 or W109, 1968-1972. If it's a W108, it could be a 250S or 250SE, a 280S, -SE, or -SEL, or a 280SE or -SEL 4.5. If a 109, it could be any of several 300SELs, including (dare we whisper the name?) the fabled 6.3. I haven't yet seen a stern shot of the car, so I have no idea how it's badged.

Ned, the piemaker hero, owns his own business, so who's to say he couldn't afford to keep a 6.3 running? Or maybe he inherited it from his father?

I dont think its a 6.3 just from looking at the wheels. My guess would be a 4.5. The driving shots from the front to the windshield are of another car entirely or a stage prop. Oh, and its definatley Tobacco Brown.

The new Steve Carell movie, "Dan in Real Life" features a red W123 wagon quite prominently. I've seen it in the ads and movie trailers.

I think it's a 109 or maybe a 112 (300SE/300SEL). Whichever it is, it got my attention!
That and I like the show too - Anna Friel...I think she's kinda hot.

Don't forget his uncanny, and lucrative, ability to solve mysterious murder cases and claim the reward money. $50K for Chuck's death, although in that case it was split 3 ways.

I was wondering if anyone else watched the show. I DVR it as my SS meetings are on Wednesdays, but this weeks show finally gave us a great front shot. Oh yes is his girlfriend hot! Can't complain about the waitress either. Did anybody notice their love of low-cut tops? Gotta love the new divider...for steering emergencies.

Wink I *like* the series . . .

. . . or at least the concept.

But it's got holes in the execution that Ned could drive his MB through. For instance, the hero, at age 9, revives his 3-year-old dog after it's hit by a truck. Nineteen years later, as the main story begins with the hero as an adult, *he still has the same dog*. Huh? Golden retrievers don't live to be 22, do they? If it's possible the hero's touch confers long life, as with the mouse in King's "The Green Mile," please have a character speculate on that.

Also, he can't pet the dog, or (in the rules the show sets up) the dog will die. First off, you know that at age 9, he'd have been overjoyed to see his dog alive again, and would have hugged him. Oops, dog is dead again. Besides, in 19 years, this dog has *never* jumped on him or nudged him in some way?

Okay, you say, it's fantasy. But fantasy, even comedy fantasy, needs to get us to suspend our disbelief. It needs to keep us from asking such questions, at least while the story is unfolding.

Then again, maybe my fantasy-appreciation module is on the fritz.

(I like Anna Friel -- and Kristin Chenoweth, too. Ned must be a really daft clot not to notice that his blonde employee/neighbor has the hots for him.)

I'm under the assumption that it was skin contact, but maybe I'm mistaken in that assumption. If so, why not sport a full-body suit and wrap that rascal!!

I remember the background on the dog but didn't catch the 19 years passing part. A retriever living that long is not the norm. I wonder if there is something to that whole long life thing that got lost in the shuffle? My golden is getting white around the snout at 10 yo so even if his dog was still alive he'd at least look older.

Aforementioned hiccups aside, the Mrs. and I find it quite entertaining. Which most assuredly spells doom for it since we tend to like the quirky, dry humor sit-coms which just don't seem to connect with the mass viewing public (much of the humor is lost since it goes over their heads). Arrested Development was one of our never-miss shows.

Chi McBride is perfect for his part, too.

We hear ya there. In our case we figured that since we like it for the same reasons, it would probably be canceled.
Then we found out that my in-laws like it too, which certainly means it'll be canceled, since it's the first show in years we've (Mrs. and I as well as in-laws) have both liked.

We really hope we're wrong.

It's DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED

What I find strange/interesting is that tv shows that receive critical acclaim we generally like while movies that get $h!t on by the critics we generally like.
