we have such an ordinance here in town.if it's not licensed,or out of sight it's gotta go.my girlfriends kids car had a "city park" tree fall on it.with him and a couple buddies in it.the tree was so big that it trapped em in the car for a good hour til the city crew got there and cut it up.it broke out the back window and smashed the top down.city's insurance carrier said they wouldn't pay "it was an act of god"but on the new hotel/waterpark that the city was building that had wind damage the insurance did pay figure that out.then 3 days later a deputy shows up at the door with a notice that his car is violating town policy of junk cars in the yard.he had to go to the city hall with his registration and proof of insurance to prove it wasn't junk.they assumed that beings it had plastic in the back window that it was junk.

Well, I won't be having that problem. With the new board, they are somewhat "in my debt", being I gave them an issue to fight on, paid for all of their campaign materials, and used my contacts at the paper to give them a favorable review, and they are personal friends of mine, not to mention they ran on an Anti-Zoning platform, means I'm sitting pretty. They have asked me to consider running for mayor in '09, so, maybe a new career path beckons .
Thanks, Dave.

If you get elected mayor, I'll stop in and say hello, Dave. Hell, I'll stop in and say hello even if you aren't the mayor. I still have to go to Kinston periodicaly, so I pass right by you.

Probably law was conceived by those with hysterical visions, of old washer/dryers, burnt out bed springs and mattresses, and old junked cars sitting on cinder blocks sitting around in plain view, in the front yards and driveways.

Good you were able to set them straight on that one.

Well, I won't take all of the credit. The town was fed up with the arrogant, brash, previous administration. Nobody had ran against them in 4 years. So, we did have the element of good timing, but we really fought to bring down this administration. I don't know if I'll be running for mayor or not, still considering it, but I've got 2 years to think it over. However, that 6k a year they pay for doing a lot of nothing (doesn't require but 1 day a week), could become my "official" transportation budget , (money to keep the 560 running, and maybe get another MB ). I'm thinking on it.

Dave.

In my hometown, Pink Hill, NC, the current town board is trying to get a new zoning ordinance passed. This ordinance will only allow each resident to own ONE unlicensed car. (I own 3, a 1968 Lincoln Continental, currently not running, in the process of being restored. 1975 Chevrolet Corvette, I let the licenses lapse due to it needing engine work, a 1981 Cadillac Seville which is waiting until the conny is done to start restoration work.) I would be required to get license, insurance, and state inspection on all 3 (none of which are road worthy at the moment, so no inspections), and I was planning on trying to get either a 108 or 116 MB for a resto-project this year. I keep my older cars behind my house, under car covers, and they don't hurt anyone.

So PLEASE Sign this petition at
http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/PINKHILLNOZONE

You aren't required to be a Pink Hill resident, its just showing support for a fellow MB owner. It is considered a purely symbolic gesture, but is greatly appreciated by me, and all of the other collector car owners in Pink Hill. This petition is just to show the town government that somebody is trying to stand up to them.

Thanks, Dave.

It most certainly is. My digital camera is inoperative, and I don't have any pics of the car in the computer, but here is one like it, (only in better shape )

That is what I'm aiming for, but in a better color.

Dave.
