Some thoughts on my last road trip

Took the SL from here to Kansas City,,, down to Houston Texas and back. Was gone for 10 days, got an average of 22 MPG, and all in all had a great time. Observations are,
1. Traffic in the southern states is out of control ! God love you folks who have to deal with it on a daily basis, I would go stark raving mad. It takes me 12 to 15 minutes to go 8 miles through country and town to get to work and get pi$$ed if I hit a red light.
2. Folks in the south are generally the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I have never experienced the concern that I was happy with my surroundings, or could they do anything more to please me.
3. Route 10,,, I believe,,, going into Baton Rouge, with the 20 miles of bridge over the swamps and Bayous, put me into kind of a shock. All I could see was getting pitched into the black waters as one of the sections gave in as I blissfully rode over it.
4. The SL is one of the greatest road cars I have ever traveled in. I had my Sirius radio, CD's, and regular radio. The power of the SL actually got me out of trouble a few times just as quick as I got in to it.

All in all, a wonderful trip, now it's back to reality.

As an added note. I arrived at the Cullen, Alabama Hampton Inn Saturday night and applied for a room. The deal was just about finished and as the clerk was handing me the key, she said " Do you know this county is dry ?" I had just traveled over 700 miles, in sometimes stressfull conditions, and was ready for some food and adult beverages. My face must have shown a degree of disappointment as she immediately asked if I would consider driving another 25 miles to get to a "wet" county. She got on the computer, reserved me a room at another location and sent me on my way. As I said,,, those people are great.
