do vegetarians like leather upholstery?

I mean vegetarians who are so because of the ethics of being a carnivore.

So many cars today are offered with leather upholstery that I have to wonder if more cows are slaughtered for skin than meat.

Are nappa and alcantara cow skin or some other hide?

Nope. Producers use everything but the moo.

However, I wouldn't be surprised to find that most of the hides used in upholstery come from countries other than the USA. Hides here can be pretty beat-up from barbed wire, thorns etc. European hides are supposedly upholstery grade.

Alcantara is an artificial covering.
Nappa is actually sheepskin, not cow hide.

I once mentioned to an anti-fur,animal rights chick I was dating that the Gran Torino she owned had seats made from the hide of the Nauga.

Drove the featherbrain nuts until the dealer explained it was synthetic....even then she had a difficult time understanding exactly what synthetic meant,I cannot make this ***** up.

My daughter is a vegan and she will not use anything made from the skin of any animal, or any other part of an animal.

Point.

Or likes stringed musical instruments. Can a vegan listen to a symphony, guilt-free?

Good point, most of the so-called devout vegans out here don't even know the fact that Jello comes from Gelatin which by the way, India is a major supplier of along with hide, they live in their naive world feeding cow bone extract to their kids and you should see their expressions when the truth is revealed to them.

I've dated 2 vegan chicks,1 divorced and 1 single.

That was in my '20's when I was into the skinny broad thing.

They all had that thin,pasty-white skin, parchment like, revealing the veins underneath. They really struck me as unhealthy.

Plus they were self-absorbed nuts..........but so was I

Miss Linda's not a vegan (though I suspect that she is not from this planet in any case), but she squeaks about "cruelty to animals" all the time. Even got me to promise I wouldn't put sheepskins on my car seats. (An easy promise for me. Have you checked out the prices on high-quality sheepskin seat covers these days? Ye gods.)

But she's perfectly willing to eat a hamburger, and she definitely has no trouble with leather shoes, belts, and handbags. Nor has she got to the point where she refuses to kill a roach in her house.

Yet.

I guess she's a "Selective Vegan" then. I read somewhere that Hitler claimed to be a vegetarian. He considered sausages and bratwursts to be vegetables, I think. Apparently, no body argued with him . . .
