Utah needs YOU!

Tired of the overpriced housing? Tired of your 2 hour commute to work? Want actual 4 seasons a year?

My mother lives in Grantsville (near SLC) with her new husband, an alfalfa farmer. Don't scoff, there's dudes want to buy his water rights for $2 mil.

My sister and her husband live in SLC. Nice enough area, the Mountains are great and oh mah ghod, lots of cute girls on the street.

All of 'em wanting a family.

UTAH
Like Colorado only in Black and White

Didn't leave anything in Corinne when I left. I do agree with your comment about Mormons (LDS) - probably some of the nicesest friends we have had in our lives.

I think the best advertisement for Utah would be "40 acres and a new wife".

My aunt and uncle live in Vernal. I've never been there. I don't think homosexuals would fare very well there unless they are in the closet like Larry Craig.

So far, I've been extremely happy in Texas.

Repo Man ( dir. Alex Cox, 1984)

J. Frank Parnell: "You ever feel as if your mind had started to erode? Ever been to Utah? Ra-di-a-tion. Yes indeed. You hear the most outrageous lies about it. Half-baked goggle-box do-gooders telling everybody it's bad for you. Pernicious nonsense. Everybody could stand a hundred chest X-rays per year. They ought to have them, too. When they cancelled the project it almost did me in. One day my mind was full to bursting. The next day - nothing. Swept away. But I'll show them. I had a lobotomy in the end"

Otto: "Lobotomy? Isn't that for loonies?"

J. Frank Parnell: "Not at all. Friend of mine had one. Designer of the neutron bomb. You ever hear of the neutron bomb? Destroys people - leaves buildings standing. Fits in a suitcase. It's so small, noone knows it's there, then - BLAMMO! Eyes melt, skin explodes, everybody dead. So immoral, working on the thing can drive you mad. That's what happened to this friend of mine. So he had a lobotomy. Now he's well again."

I spent a month there one week in Orem. With the BYU campus down the road the area looked like a great place to raise a family with lots of playgrouds, parks and recreation. Can't say the same about SLC, which appeared rather gloomy.

One of the dumbest thoughts I've had occurred in Vernal. I was having breakfast in a restaurant prior to a canoe trip in Dinosaur National Park and I wondered, "How can a restaurant brew such bad coffee?"

The Great Salt Lake is way down from it's traditional banks. Drought in the Rocky Mountain states is a concern.

The red rock parks in Utah are pure magic. I love that geological wonderland stuff.

We're starting this winter off with a bang though. If it keeps up, we'll be out of the drought issue by next summer.
Heck, we had drought warnings in the Seattle area about every other summer the past 15 years or so. Yeah, right! A drought in western Washington! What, we had dryer rain?
