Old Geo Metros are the new 240D on eBay & CL

Search eBay or CL on Geo Metros and take a look at some of the mileage claims made...any where from 30->50 mpg.

Save your watch!

Now I know why TheDon is looking for one.

I rented one of those things back in the late 90's once.

Miserable unsafe wretched cramped sardine cans which could barely make it up San Francisco hills with the pedal of that 3 cylinder engine pressed all the way to the floor.

Kind of cars that are all over the place in Paris and London and large cities in Europe. Completely disposable cars, but cheap on fuel costs and easy to park, and nimble in city traffic.

And with those inflated prices, you can forget about being made whole by your insurance company in the event an errant robin smacks the front end and totals that POS out.

I could probably sell a Geo for $10,000 if I put a Kubota Diesel in it and claimed 100mpg.

Fuel economy or your life?

Well you'll be getting a claimed 39-49MPG with the 3 cylinder model, but with acceleration rivaled by a 300D you won't be going to quickly. Being blown off the highway is also a possibility.

And the attendees of your funeral will be happy to hear you were saving 20 bucks a week after a collision with pretty much any car will guarantee you some sort of terrible injury.

People who buy these things put fuel economy ahead of their lives? I'll stick with my 27MPG 300D sipping $4.65 diesel

My Corolla is getting about 30mpg in the city, and close to 40mpg on the highway, and it is much larger than a Metro . I have a feeling I can make some money on it when gas is at $5/gallon ...

Wrong my friend, with 0-60 in the 11second range, its faster than a 300D.

How do you stop a Geo Metro?

Turn on the AC.

So what you are saying is that now is a great time to buy an SUV?

I wonder what a slightly used super charged Range Rover is worth? Or say a G55 AMG?

My wife's friend's husband runs a small used car business out of a warehouse, and he told me how much high fuel prices are affecting his business.

Years ago, his business was all SUV's, BMW's, Mercedes, Audi's, etc., but now he only stocks small, economical, fuel misers.

His hottest model that he focuses on is the Toyota Echo. He tells me he can buy them at the auction for between $2k - $3k, and sell them for double.

So this year would probably be a good year to get a smoking deal on one.

Heh

Fine faster than my 300D. What I mean is I personally wouldn't feel safe in one, especially after how well my W123 held up in a serious side impact. Those beams welded in the doors weren't there just to make the power window motors a b$tch to put in
