I don't know where it has ever been good to quit in that fashion. I prefer to give 2 weeks notice to make myself look professional. Problem is that now you have to list that job if you want to be truthful and if you don't and get caught, it might not be good. If an employee didn't list it and I found out, I would be very skeptical of them and probably ditch them at the first chance. OTOH, if they told me, I might think they are a quitter seeing as how it is that quick a job.

Is it possible for an employer to find out if you don't list it?

Technically no but, they have ways of getting that info transmitted if need be.

Possible, yes. Lets say you accidentally mention it and they investigate. That is one way.

That is my biggest fear when applying for a job. I have seen emloyment forms that make you agree that you have told the truth and they CAN, not will but can, fire you for any dishonesty or refuse to hire you for the same reason. If I find out AFTER you get the job and I have ANY reason whatsoever, I can claim I discovered that you lied on your application and therefore fire you for dishonesty NOW. So, do you feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Here is another example. When my wife first started as an RN, she had a DON that was nice to her. Well, later on, the facility closed for whatever reasons and people moved on. Now, she was hired by a firm and was shown around. One of the RNs was her old DON. "When last we met, old man, you were the master and I was the pupil. Now I am the master" The employment circles are not that wide. Somebody might know somebody who knows what you did before.

Maybe it will be better than Sheri's or the Chicken Ranch where the customer comes first. BTW, they are both nice places. Wife and I took at trip there and it was not seedy. They even offered the wife a job but she turned it down.

I'm at the end of my string here at the day job and spend more than a few hours fantasizing about collecting my December bonus and walking directly to the door, never to return again. But, when the day actually comes, I'll probably just hand my excuse for a manager an envelope back with my two weeks notice.

I'd love to unload in their exit interview too but, in all honesty, if they didn't listen when I was on the payroll, what makes me think anything will change with a friendly visit on the way out?

Burning bridges sounds fun but you never know what you're going to come up against in the future.

IMO, the exit interview, for the most part, is a joke. You just use it to ask your questions of insurance, 401K, etc, etc.

That is the biggest issue.
