As young as she may be, she is not entirely innocent. As unpleasant as the truth may be to parents, boys/girls at 13 have sexual urges too. They just don't completely understand what's appropriate yet.

That is what makes the adult's crime even more heinous. The coach took advantage of her position of power and combined that power with the usual sexual confusion that all teens go through. She then proceeded to gratify her own sexual urges at the teen's expense.

I prosecuted sexual assault and child molestation cases. The hardest cases were the teen victims. Rape victims had no choice, they were forced into it. Child victims often had no clue of what was going on. But teens were often "willing" participants in the act. Many times they also enjoyed the physical gratification connected to the sexual act.

Teen victims know that what they ar doing (or what is being done to them) is wrong, yet they often enjoy the attention and the physical gratification. In the long run, however, teen victims suffer the greatest amount of long-term harm. I prosecuted a very sad case, where the girl was molested by the mom's b/f from age 9 to age 13. This girl went from being a pretty, slim, smiling, athletic young girl to an overweight, physically unattractive, sour young woman who often cut herself (arms and legs).

In an interview she said that she wanted to be ugly so that no man would ever be attracted to her. In her ownhead, she blamed herself for the abuse that she suffered; she also blamed herself for not stopping it.

She is 17 now and is still trying very hard to make herself "ugly." I doubt she will ever be "mended." What that a@@hole did to that girl willhaunt her forever, it will interfere with all of her future relationships, including future speouse and children (if any).

The perp is now doing 15 years in State prison. The victim will always be a prisoner to the crime that was committed on her.

I know the age of consent in CO is 17, known that for quite awhile.

My point is that teenagers (boys AND girls) are walking hormones and have "desires" just like adults. I had one or two hot teachers in school, if one of them showed that kind of interest in me I know I would have jumped at the chance to "score" with one of them. Unless the coach was blackmailing her into creating a "relationship", the girl had to have some interest in the coach for that to continue for over 10 months.

she needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

I think that maybe you are being too harsh on FI, however.

I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he is not a member of NAMBLA (or whatever the initials are).

FI is right, children are human. DUH! And he is also right that children are capable of experiencing, to some extent anyway, sexual gratitification.

The problem comes when adults, who ought to know better, take advantage of a child's innocence and prey on it for THEIR OWN sexual gratification. All the child knows is that it may "feel good" at some level. For the adult, however, it is all about power, abuse and taking advantage of the child's trust. Some of these a@@holes even delude themselves into believing that what they are doing to the child is beneficial to the child!

I've seen enough young victims to know that the scars will probably never heal.

So FI, I hope that by saying that children are human and that children experience pleasure you are not just giving lip service to the rhetoric spouted by child molesters to justify their crimes.
