All of you who know who Porter Wagoner was, please take a moment to reflect on his life and his music, and the fact that he was instrumental in bringing us the lovely and immensly talented Dolly Parton.

You never cease to amaze me, Bill. I'll take my imaginary hat off to Porter Wagner and throw back a glass to Bob Wills this pm too:D

I'm no country music fan, but he was a big name in that genre, that's for sure. A tip of my imaginary hat, as well!

I'll slam down a shot of Southern Comfort and reflect as well.

I remember his syndicated series on Saturday evenings when I was a kid, back when every "country" TV show set included a barn, hay bales, and at least one wagon wheel. If it didn't have all of those items, and a guest shot from "Big Bad John" singer/future sausage magnate Jimmy Dean, it wasn't a "country" show.

From what I hear, we should tip our hats to Porter for yet another reason. The rumor has always been that he did a lot more with Dolly Parton than showcase her talent. . . .

There's a reason why I feel close to Porter; in the E True Hollywood Story of Dolly Parton, they interviewed Porter and he was wearing a shirt that is exactly like a shirt I have. I'm wearing it today and I have a candle burning on my desk.
