I want new job
I wish greaseworks had a place by my house.. I would beg to be the janitor!...
seriously.. I am in the market for a new job.. it is my college years.. I don't need that much money just enough to pay my mom (I pay a couple bills) and pay for my car( you know.. to own a classic you need to fix things) I wish davenport had more cool places to work.Only "cool" place is the freezer section at publix.. which is not my forte... |

How about waiting tables or bussing in a upscale restaurant or The Pub.? KoKopelli's for instance?
Tips ought to be pretty decent. Flexible hours. Any chance of that? Guest service agent @ Omni Orlando ? Might be interesting for a young buck! |

You could talk to the staff at your school. When I was in college, they had job boards posted and there were staff available to help you locate jobs. The benefit there would be getting something that you are going to school for that would look good on your resume.
The degree "and" work experience are what get you the bucks.

Got to stay on campus, so I could work shifts in between clasees and even get assignments done...especially while I worked the night shift and had the whole mainframe processor practically all to myself!!! Didn't get paid a lot, but I could fill up my car's tank and had weekend pocket money! And it did look good on my resume when asked about prior computer experience.

My daughter did the waitressing gig a couple of nights a week during her college. Started out waitressing and then also did bartending work. kept her in clothes and gas and car insurance during her last couple of years in school. Dad picked up the rent and tuition. |

You can make some very decent cash waiting tables, even just a few nights a week if the turnover is good. Plus, there's usually no shortage of fellow female servers and cute hostesses always hanging around after the dinner service... I'm just sayin'...

If you don't need tons of dough, I might try going to junk yards, pulling parts, and selling them. Then again, Publix does give you those nice shares of stock, and unless you're pushing carts, you work in an air-conditioned environment.
Buy a gas powered post hole digger, and put an ad in the paper. Ten bucks a hole for the first 10 holes, and then maybe 8 for each additional hole. Get a job at the phone company, and help put the cable companies in their place

I have some stock.. I do like the retail bonus as well.. Tomorrow I am going to talk to my store manager and see how I can get a warehouse job.. I can operate a forklift perfectly.. I'm just not certified.. I used to push carts and bag.. I kinda liked doing that. I have soo many regulars that they will make a line just for me while the rest of the cashiers stand idle. They are like "sir, I can take you here" , "no thanks, I'd rather go to Joe's line"... |

Do they put you through fork lift training? Or maybe reimburse you for getting training?
A Forklift operators license can come in handy.

I don't know..
I know at my other temp job I was taught how to do it and was asking if I should get certified. My boss was like nah. OSHA never bugs us. I need to look into it though.. I was going to get my CDL permit and start at my temp job driving the box trucks. I am a jack of all trades. |

Nope, just waited tables and bartended off and on through College. There were many cute girls.
At one point, during the summer I had a job at Sears doing small engine repair during the day and waited tables at night. For the Sears job I had to be drug tested. About half way through the summer Sears found out I was working somewhere else and told me I had to choose which job to keep. It was a no-brainer. Hour to hour comparison I made about 2-3 times the Sears wage being a server. I still don't know what the deal with Sears was, but they didn't get any better as time went on. So is Waiting good?

It's also fairly accurate as far as the front goes. I've never heard of the game they played in the kitchen -although I wouldn't put it past some cooks to "spruce up" the food a little here. The customers portrayed were fairly accurate. I've worked with the short loony one (the one with the seemingly split personality). In the nearly 13 years I did in the restaurant biz, I think I only saw about 3 run through the kitchen, out the back door, and crying because of some a-hole customer. I saw a waitress throw the change that they left as a tip at the customers (in the parking lot), telling them that they need it more than she did. I had one waitress deliberately leave a ketchup stain on her white shirt, right where her nipple would be - later I heard she was working as a dancer at night, and would encourage some of the customers to come see her. (Eventually I accidentally did, and she was a better dancer than waitress).
I had one that had no clue what a French Dip was, and one day proclaimed that the day's special was french onion dip soup, and Chicken Corn Dog Blue. Well... if you've worked in a restaurant, you have stories.
