Ferrari DUI "Two-Fer" in Seattle

Two men arrested for speeding, DUI in same Ferrari
Seattle Times 10-30-2007

State troopers arrested two men for speeding and DUI in the same rare Ferrari, thanks to the help of a State Patrol airplane, the patrol reported.

On Friday night, a State Patrol airplane spotted a 2005 Ferrari F430 with a clear engine hood speeding on Highway 520 near the interchange with Highway 405. The vehicle was weaving through traffic and increased its speed as it drove onto the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge, according to a news release.

Troopers on the ground pulled the vehicle over in Seattle and arrested the driver, a 35-year-old Monroe man, on suspicion of reckless driving and DUI.

The vehicle's owner, a 31-year-old Woodinville man who was also intoxicated, was a passenger in the car when it was pulled over. The owner waited until a tow truck arrived and troopers left with the original driver. He then sent the truck away and got into the driver's seat, the news release said. The State Patrol airplane was still overhead.

The Woodinville man was pulled over a short distance away, arrested and cited on suspicion of DUI and obstructing a police officer.

The Ferrari was impounded.

Speaking of Ferrari . .

About $50M worth of 250 GTOs taking a curve at Sonoma County's Infineon Raceway, when 21 of the 36 attended the Moet & Chandon GTO Tour last week. It was the first time the historic tour has come to the US.

Holy cow. That's a lot of GTO's! Was Bill Gates taking the corners at 18mph like the rest of the drivers?

Thats pretty good, especially considering the car of course. I like the ones where one person gets two DUI's oin the same day as a result of one drinking experience. Now thats hilarious.

I suppose it is better than letting them sit in a garage!

Oh man, I could start a forum on stupid dui stories (I guess they are all stupid, but you know)

My personal favorite was the guy who walked out of the bar and was so f'd up he couldn't find his car so he reported it stolen. He found it three minutes after he made the call and was picked up leaving the parking lot of the bar on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle.

Porsche salesman sneaking in after work,
18 Wheeler bobtails are fun,
Golfcart on public road,
Test drive of one of Jay Leno's bikes in a parking lot,
ect..., ect....

I can tell you for sure that old Ferraris are a hellofa lot better investment right now than real estate.

When I was in Portland on Sunday, my mom came close to hitting a Lamborgini that was parked along a narrow street, and the thing was sticking half way out in the street. She said if she hit it, that's what they get for having the thing sticking so far out in the road.

Drivng them I have no problem with, of course. But spending that much petro-BTUs to ship them halfway around the world?

I'm a spoilsport all right.

I'm pretty sure I saw two of those GTOs at the Palo Alto Concours.
