The Chinese Secret to Long Life

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2007/11/03/the-chinese-secret-to-long-life.aspx

With all the horrid stories about China’s lack of food standards, dangerous lead-laced toys, environmental abuses, exorbitant pollution, and widespread poverty, it may surprise you to find out that China boasts a life expectancy surprisingly close to that of the United States.

and that too for 1 billion.

Tai Chi. That's a fine practice.

There's another explicit discovery recently being recognized in the US.
Coming from Japan, it points out the ph-quality of our drinking water.

Eletrolytically charged (ionized) alkaline water contributes to a ph-balancing within our organs and the entire cell environment inside our body.
Our bodies being overwhelmingly acidic through the kind of nutrition we ingest furthers an environment for many major illnesses, i.e. cancer, arthridis, alzheimer, and many more flourish in acidic bodies.

The consumtion of alkaline water can reduce the overall acidity throughout the body, thus reduce the risk and tendencies of developing a whole array of nasty illnesses.

But would you want to live there?

I'd like to visit Shanghai some day, but I would never consider long-term residence.

You know that the Chinese government must approve compositions by Chinese composers if they are to be played in public? That goes for all art.

You know it's illegal for you to sleep in certain hotels?

You know it's illegal for you to take pictures at certain "public" places?

You know some of your friends you make in China are actually spies?

You know in Shanghai you come home and literally wipe black soot off your face?

I have lived in Shanghai for around six months as a visiting professor, I will gladly live there. Its safe, relatively clean, organized, no stupid graffiti on trains or buses, no drunks on buses, did I say safe. I enjoyed my stay there and when I get another offer to to there, I will with a big smile on my face.

When I hear/think/see/speak/write about China...there's ALWAYS one quality of life that comes up in the back of my mind...

Security is always more comfy than freedom ... for the people on the right side of security.

When I lived in Argentina under the Junta the city streets were safe for women to walk alone, night and day. Criminals were always caught and always confessed.

You know when you go to China, you set foot on Chinese soil as a person of extreme privelege, more priveleged than those who are allowed to do business as prescribed by the .cn government. It's like going to Cuba. All it does is promote segregation. You may of course choose to give up that privelege, but of course, it's not extended to you by your own choosing.

Don't worry, I will find a way to post, China or not, so you will have to either endure or ignore, your choice. Wish there was a way to prevent you from posting forever.

Oh come on guys!

Ghukha, you thought it was clean and organized, you must be thinking of Japan! you must not have rode in a taxi!

mburg 1984....???

Have any of you really been there? I was just there 2 weeks ago on a business trip.

1. Didn't know that....

2. No that's not true! You're only limited by how much you spend!

3. I took as many pictures as I wanted to.

4. Corporate spies perhaps since everyone wants to make money.

5. The air is not THAT bad but they do need improvement.

China has a long way to go in a lot of areas but it's far different than you think....

Would George Orwell's 1984 have spies selling Maserati Quattorportes and F430 F1's!!!!!

On the left that's the french concession which is now french cafes, (yes a starbucks too...); Ferrari dealership ; MB Dealership across the street, JW Marriott hotel, with complimentary S550 hotel cars; a few of many many privately held office buildings

The Taxis were not that great I admit but the Corollas were relatively cleaner, I was there last year. Also I have ridden in worse taxis in NYC. Shanghai was pretty much organized to me as compared to other cities I have seen.

You must have been on the "Sanitized Tour" bus.

Oh, wait, I just read your "User Profile" - nice that you're able to travel and all...I suppose that the government of China "has" to let the privately held property rights exist within their own borders...right?

You must have been traveling and missed that little "tank and kid" incident that was on CNN a few years back.

Oh, and by the way, Florida's "hanging-Chad" (or is it "hanging-Chan" in this case) never crossed the pond...that same government that had the "tank/kid" scene is still the same one running the show over there right now. Same tune, same band, same stage, different sign out front. Even the water's the same...only a little thicker.

Only those that agree with the Chinese Authorities (and continue to practice) that "...2 + 2 does = 5..." get to buy/sell and participate in all things capitalistic.

And, North Korea is even worse.

You're fooling yourself thinking that just because "...you're allowed to take a few pictures and drive a fancy car..." that all is right with the Chinese Government and all that it represents (or allows you to see). They have rules that you must obey...and it apprears that you haven't even come close to scraping a single one.

Be careful. Some day you'll get that "tap" on your shoulder and you may be "asked" to follow an officer or two to the local police/thought station. Don't be surprised if they all have rubber gloves on and your camera's film/chip/memory is confiscated/deleted.

Within the next decade or so, we, in the US, may have to abide by the same type of rules.

Don't have the "mark?"

"Sorry, no can do business with you. NEXT!"
