Saw this 116 spacific footage on YT and nearly shat..
so I had to put some more appropriate music to it. http://youtube.com/watch?v=U94SYjWMpv0 |
Just got a W116 SD for my wife. When I showed her the video she wanted to start high stepping across the kitchen.
ahahaha :) glad she liked it!
I was wondering if the eagle and star would have been a little over the top....I think It suited it :D |
Actually I found that the video originally edited fit the song nearly perfect. Almost as though the media dept of Mercedes had this song in mind when editing..lol
Much better, it probably had some crappy rape on it before.
Is that a Nazi march tune?
Nah I think its an old German army marching song, WW1 vintage.
They used it in the Battle of the Bulge movie. |
I can read some German, but can't make much out from a song. Just curious.. The video synch's well with the tune.

A Panzer March According to this site, it was composed in 1933 by a German Wermacht Lt. German and English lyrics and several versions available, including the one from the Bulge. http://www.worldwar2aces.com/panzerlied.htm |
Hmm...
So its a German war song, hard to say how Nazi it is though. The German army was pretty anti Hitler at that time.
The army was never overtaken by the Nazi party bureaucracy and many felt Hitler's war would bring ruin to Germany.
Well they became more complinet as the 30's went on, because the generals that wanted to oust him from office were either killed or retired. The military was a real threat to Hitler when he first gained power, because they thought he was an idiot, and some had read his book. But yeah the military always hated the Nazi party, they never really got along. Thats why the Nazi party created the SS, the idea was that they would eventualy replace the military.
To be a Nazi you had to be an NSDAP member and pay into it and do all the things nazi's did.. the Wermacht, luftwaffe, and Kriegsmarine were just simply military wings of the 38-45 Nazi leadership.
the SS however was more involved in the "NAZI" thing. I howver believe it is wrong to call a former wermach member a "NAZI" It'd be like calling a Vietnam vet a "baby killer"...no offense to those who served. |
