Anyway back on topic, makes sense I guess it depends on your situation.

Like the argument of paying off your house vs mortgaging it to the hilt and using the money for other investments.

Either approach has its pro's and cons.
Agreed. Didn't know you wore a badge around here. Nice to know who to call for help.

JimmyL --(saw his Profile) lives within 3-miles of me......Sunnyvale is a two minute drive from my city. Telephone prefixes.....identical to my city. Don't know him.....I don't run with people who own numerous MBs that are usually in various states of disrepair......not my style. I run alone, travel light.....no pack.

There is no substitute for being debt free, paying-off home in 7 - 8 yrs... Then nobody owns you.......nobody. ALL your income can then be plowed EVERY month into the stock market. Going naked w/o homeowners gives you more of a self-sufficient outlook on your income and acrued investments.

Bav,

Wow, since you have never had a problem thats all the proof I need that insurance companies live up to their obligation, we should forward your story to almost every AG in the country to back off the insurance industry since you have such great service.

Skid Row, we know who you are you can't hide behind those pennies for more than a post or two. No need to insure an eastern efficiency.

I don't have any remorse for SF. Like the rest of the insurance industry, State Farm has been highly profitable over the past few years, despite hurricane payouts. State Farm recorded a net profit of $3.24 billion in 2005. That's the B word not M. Woe is the Mississippi State Farm Agent....as they cannot write any new (homeowner) policies and this has also caused people to move their auto insurance elsewhere.
One thing positive that will come out of this is consumer readable exclusions page on insurance, no more boilerplate legalese crap.

Howie, the US Court of Appeals 5th. Cir screwed the State Farm policy holders of Mississippi day before yesterday. I haven't been able to read the full opinion yet as it has not hit Pacer for some reason.

You know my pet peeves, insurance and energy; they get regulatory protection while ramming the citizens the regulations are supposed to protect in the ass. Personally I have done well with insurance companies but it was not without notice that I will fight for what I paid for.

and then they influence tort reform laws so when they do breach of contract they can't be sued for too much.
