It's not a lot faster but hopefully it's a lot more reliable and less vulnerable to hackers. The old server was causing me lots of headaches due to the age and patchwork of software. I was having to restart the Apache web server almost daily to keep the server from overloading.

I didn't check the old records, but there's a DNS trick that you can use when moving a server. A few days before the move, set the timeout to an hour or two and let that propagate. Once you change the record to reflect the new IP address, set the timeout back to a normal setting (i.e., one or more days).

Not that it helps now...
