94 gmc suburban oil leak

i just bought a 94 gmc suburban with a rebuilt 354 ...i just notice an oil leak (but only when the truck is turned off) what could be the cause it looks like its coming from the plug but after looking further it looks like it is coming from somewhere further up can you help

As with a Mercedes engine, there are only so many places oil can come from.
Dipstick, drain plug, valve cover gasket(s), oil pan gasket.
Usual procedure is to clean the engine really well (degreaser/simple green/etc) and then take a look-see.

Does it have an oil cooler? Those flimsy factory slip-n-clip fittings are a leak waiting to happen. Not to mention the flimsy crimps on the oil cooler hoses.

I don't think you can blame the OEM design for the leak. He did mention it was a rebuild so whoever rebuilt it probably did a scheißen job.
