Cougar sighting near Pine Village Indiana

Local folks have been seeing a Cougar (no not the car, sillly) near Pine Village which is about twenty miles west of Lafayette over near the Illinois line.

There are pictures but none really clear yet and one person claims to have video.

Experts say it is impossible, but I hear there are a few in Illinois and Michigan so it seems pretty plausible to me. Lord knows there are a lifetime supply of deer to eat out there.

if i remember right the state of kansas was releasing them tagged and tracking em.i believe a couple of em ended up here in iowa.and there are rumors floating around that the dept of natural resources was releasing them here in iowa to control the deer population.cuz god knows with our stupid hunting regulations the hunters aren't killing enough of em.

They say they are in lower Michigan but they seem to elude being caught on camera despite the thousands of trail cameras in the woods.

When the feral pig rumors started to circulate pictures were available almost immediately.

Coyotes

Coyotes have been reported inside NY City in the larger. wooded parks of the Bronx (Van Cortland Park) and Upper Mantattan (Ft. Tryon Park) and have become local creatures in Westchester County (Fainstock St. Park) so Cougars in Illinois is easily believeable considering how we have been taking their habitat and turning it into gated condo hell.

If the little rat doggies dissappear during their nightly constitutionals then you know the creatures of the night are about!

Here in the Grand Rapids, MI area we have had cougar, coyote, and black bear sightings. Not to mention I went around the block last night here in our neighborhood and almost hit THREE DEER grazing in a person's yard. and we're well inside the city, not on the suburb outskirts! Crazy. A person's dog in a suburb near here was killed by a cougar a few months back.

While cruising the farm late one afternoon a couple of years ago, we encountered what we believe was a jaguarundi. The electric buggy is damned quiet and we came around a corner to find a strange-looking red cat sauntering along the track. He was pretty unconcerned about our arrival and ran along a few more yards before slipping off into the brush.

They're not large...about the size of a really big house cat with a long, long fluffy tail.

They're a central america/mexico native that is seen up the coast to Houston. These and other cats often travel in the river valleys and the farm is inland about 160 miles but isn't 8 miles from the Brazos river.
