That kind of mock on the Germans is very common. Germans are 'Bastards' to the British .... ofcourse not to all of them. But that's the terminology used to underline their loving relationship ....:D

Well the British, French, and Germans have a long history...they have been very good lately, no wars since 1945! I don't think Europe has ever been so peacefull!:D

Well, I think they really have enough of it for some time ... They've been kicking eachother's asses for Hundreds of years if not even more ... but still, it remains a 'powder keg', at least it feels like it. But then again, it also feels pretty save and sound ... who knows.
