What is the F prefix for Ferraris?
What's the difference between a 355 and an F355 or a 430 and an F430?

Just a WAG on my part but the F430 is the 'standard' Ferrari, while the 430 Scuderia is the race version.
The Ferrari site does not seem to say what the F is for. The F360 was the normal version and the Challenge Stradale did not have the "360" in the name at all. The Superamerica was based off the 575M. Not sure what all this means though. I just wanted to see my name in print again.:D |
From Wikipedia for the Ferrari F355:
"In 1998 the Formula One style paddle gear shift transmission was introduced with the Ferrari 355 F1 (note the dropping of the F before the 355) adding £6,000 to the dealer asking price." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_F355 |
Because they have the F1 trans?

As far as I know all Ferrari's start with "F" in the model number, not the badging but models are F308, F355 ect. it has nothing to do with the F1 shifter, if I were a betting man "F" stands for Ferrari.

They don't all have "F" some have "G". The F is for Formula as in Formula One by the way.
