The Good Wife's Guide

Printed in a Housekeeping magazine back in 1955. Nice how some things never change.

The last line will win over most of the ladies.

I guess in 1955 they would not have listed a BJ as one of the "duties" of the "Good Wife." This is June Cleaver if I am not mistaken. Is it not?

Point #3 seems to cover that issue by instructing the Good Wife to give her husband a "lift", possibly with the assistance of her lesbian/bisexual lover:

"Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may need a lift and one of your duties is to provide it"

Don't complain if he's late for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through at work.

Been trying to make that point for years

There must somewhere exist a happy medium between between the lightbulb garglers and the Stepfords.

My Good Wife Guide:

When I say "I bought another Mercedes", she says "Great! What kind this time?"

I read my wife the whole thing. No taking, not even one. The hopes I had when I was 2 yrs old have been dashed.

I printed a copy of it and posted it on the wall around the time i married my wife. She thinks it's hilarious.

1955, what a vintage year! I was born in 1959, not too shabby either, the year of Cadillac's biggest fins.

However, those were the times when a hard working American still could afford a "wife", exclusively for the sole purpose of pleasing him.

Nowadays, we have to send them out into the job market and watch how they get wasted over useless stuff.

Actually,,, my wife was able to take care of raising the boys while I worked two jobs to allow a healthy lifestyle. She put up with a lot, but there were limits. Out all night, without an explanation,,,, I don't think so.

I'm all for it. If women want to find themselves in a carreer or in the workforce, if it is their desire, why not.

I can train a dog to bring my slippers ....

Yet, I think it is much of a truth, that more American families then ever before depend on dual incomes, in order to make it.

That's roughing up many relationships.

I also think there should be more emphasis on relatonship planning during highschool. Not only the issue of birth control.

A classic plan of building a family would suggest, to build a home first, then have children ... etc.

Nowadays, couples have 1, 2 or more children and don't know how to pay the rent. That's Third World standard.
