Mom is the only "On Star" you'll ever need. Howitzer, sorry about your troubles but be Thankful you have a family that loves you, a mom who hosts wounded soldiers on TD and a Forum to talk to 24-7.

p.s. If you were in Louisiana Bot would come get you....

I said F- it I'm pushing on to a decent hotel to asses the situation only to find that the car is dieing at a rapid rate. I had the family in the car and instead of stopping at a lonely gas station outside of Syracuse NY I made a move for the closest hotel...one hour from destination.

So here I sit luckily the hotel has military rooms and we quickly settled in but to be honest its the first time I have had car trouble while on a long trip. Now I am deciding what to do, right now its leave the car here have GM tow the POS to the dealer and fix it and wait for mom to pick us up in the morning.

One thing I have learned about myself through maturity is: We are all safe and healthy and I have kept my cool. The Hotel is in BFE but the hotel manager was nice enough to give me a ride to the local beer store to help me out, I gave him a little tip that he refused but I stuck it back in his car while he wasn't looking and told him "something good is going to happen for you".

This is a useless post but the family is sleeping and safe and not on the side of the road......and Onstar...........F-you Onstar my call has not been answered for 3 hours.

There is more to this but I am traveling to see my mom who could not come home the TG because she has Soldiers to take care of while the F-heads at gm leave me on hold for hours until my battery died.

At least I'm not in Louisiana.

... You won't have to say, "Well, I shoveled ***** in Louisiana."

Crappy to hear that Jeff, glad everyone is safe.

Life always seems to test us at the seeming worst times. Like you said, it's a chance to prove your mettle. Hope all goes well!

P.S. Don't stress about the Mom thing - no matter how old and responsible we get, we'll always need our Moms. ;)

Howie,

Loved reading your story. Sorry you had to go through the car trouble, but at least you kept up your holiday spirit, and handled everything with good cheer.:)

Man, some of us are having tough T-givings. Glad things are okay Howie.

Just the fact that we have the ability to post here means we have a safe place to live, decent jobs and somewhat functional lives. :P :)

DITTO!

At least you have Internet to enjoy, and your perspective on GM is right on!

Whoa, not fun. I too have been lucky (so far): no major breakdown on a long trip. That's one PITA that I dread.

You mean those On-Star ads are misleading us good consumers? Didn't they open Tiger Woods' car before he got too wet?

TheDon 11-22-2007 07:53 PM

glad everything is ok

Watertown NY you say? I've got a great aunt in the same town...

Yip, and it's damn cold...

hopefully a good word on the car tomorrow. I don't hear any metal pinging and its rough in park so I'm banking on a fuel related problem.
